Obituary of Kenneth Norman Peter Keays

Ken Norman Peter Keays passed away on June 26, 2025, surrounded by family. 

Ken “Kenny” was known to many as a husband, father, papa, uncle, brother, son, and friend. He is survived by his spouse, Viki; sons, Rob and Randall (Kelli); his five grandchildren, Jaci (Justin), Jannessa, Declyn, Mattea, and Grayson, and his daughter-in-law, Robyn. He is also survived by his mother, Carole; his siblings, Ron (Carol), Gary (Jan), and Debbie (Tom); brothers-in-law, Sam (Marie), Harold (Tracy), Allan; and sister-in-law, Loretta; numerous nieces and nephews; Dennis, his longest friend; and Champ and Buddy, his two furry companions. 

He is predeceased by fathers, Arthur Keays and Robert Bickell; his grandparents; his uncles Chuck and Warren; his brothers-in-law Jim, Dusty, Eli, James, Pete, John, Gary; his sisters-in-law, Ruth, Lyla, and Grace; his nephews, Leon and Clifford; as well as his closest friends, Curt, Rick, and Doug.

Ken was born in Dryden, Ontario, and moved to Saskatchewan when he was young. He worked in logging mostly and enjoyed it, many companies would headhunt him for his excellent buncher operating skills.  He was an avid outdoorsman. In summers he would be found hauling the boat out to the lake for a fishing day or camping for the weekend with Viki and the boys, or one or more of his buddies. Following summer, Ken went straight into hunting season, where he would hunt a variety of big and small game. He was an avid sports fan for so many sports especially the Roughriders. Ken was also an organ donor, and with that, his legacy will live on in others.

A Celebration of Ken’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 19, 2025, at MacDowall Lions Hall, MacDowall, SK.  Interment will take place at a later date.  In lieu of other tributes, donations in memory of Ken may be made to Jump Start, PO Box 770, Station K, Toronto, ON, M4P 2V8, or Sask Parks, Tourism Saskatchewan, 410-350 3rd Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 6G7.
