Obituary of Alexia Hope Masuskapoe

In Loving Memory of Alexia Hope Masuskapoe

October 21, 2009 – July 23, 2025

Alexia Hope Masuskapoe, age 15, passed away on July 23, 2025, in Saskatoon, surrounded by her family.

Born in Prince Albert on October 21, 2009, Alexia was the beloved daughter of Amanda Jocelyn Masuskapoe and Devin Matthew Starblanket (Deanne Constant), and cherished stepdaughter of Ryan Dean Bear.

Alexia is remembered with endless love by her parents, siblings, grandparents, aunties, uncles, cousins, extended family, and the many people who considered her part of their hearts and lives.

She was predeceased by her Granny, Christina Little.

She is survived by her parents Amanda Jocelyn Masuskapoe, Devin Matthew Starblanket (Deanne Constant), and Ryan Dean Bear; and by her siblings Kaziah, Noah, and Zendaya Masuskapoe, her sister cousin Shayla Sakebow, Averie and Aairlyn Peekeekoot, and Devaya, Drayton, and Dexin Starblanket.

She is deeply loved by her kohkum Dawn Masuskapoe (Eddy Genaille); grandparents Terry and Dan Lucier, and Travis Little; and aunties and uncles including Joanne Kard (Dusty Stonesand), Taylor Osecap, Hansen Masuskapoe (Shae-Lynn Knife), Joshua Cook (Tanisha St. Denis), Kiera (David) Masuskapoe, Breanne Little, Nitanis Little, Jocelin Little, Jaxson Little, Teegan Little, and Desmond Black.

She is also mourned and deeply loved by Alex Powalinsky, Lisa Halsall, and Arius Powalinsky, along with their extended families, who welcomed her with open arms and full hearts. When Alexia became part of their lives, she didn’t just gain bonus family—she helped complete one.

Alexia spent most of her life in Ahtahkakoop First Nation, with time also in Prince Albert and Saskatoon. She attended Chief Ahtahkakoop School, Spruce Home School, and later Carlton Comprehensive High School in Prince Albert. Wherever she was, Alexia built deep connections, left a lasting impression, and brought people together with her energy and heart.

For Alexia, nothing mattered more than spending time with the people she loved. She shared a special relationship with her mom, Amanda — her twin flame. She was Dawn’s baby — and she knew it. She bragged about it often, with a grin that said she knew exactly how loved she was.Alexia was a proud big sister to Kaziah, Noah, and Zendaya Masuskapoe—her favourite people in the world, and the ones she always looked out for with so much love. She brought something special out in each of them. She was their fun, their safe place, and their fierce protector. She wanted nothing more than to see her siblings happy and thriving.

Alexia was quick-witted, deeply kind, and incredibly loyal and loving. She said “I love you” often and meant it every time.  She accepted people completely and made them feel seen. She had a natural ability to make people laugh, to lift the energy in a room, and to bring people together.

Alexia loved volleyball, music, art, and just being with the people she loved. She was always up for trying something new—whether it was guitar lessons, drama workshops, joining a new sport, or learning to bake. She wanted to experience life fully and was excited about everything the future might hold.

She had big dreams for herself and for her siblings. She talked about getting her license, buying a car, driving her siblings around and picking them up to go for ice cream. She wanted to graduate, go to post-secondary, and travel the world. She was strong-willed, thoughtful, creative, hilarious, and driven. She led with her heart and held space for others to do the same.

Alexia was a little glitter, a little grit — beautiful, bold, and real in every way. A little sass, a lot of heart — she gave her love loud and lived with everything she had. She was the kind of girl who made you laugh when you were low and made sure you knew you were loved. That was her magic. She left an imprint on everyone she met. Though her time here was far too short, her impact will continue to ripple outward through the lives and hearts of those who were lucky enough to know her.
