Julie Markowski

Obituary of Julie Rae Markowski

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Julie Rae Markowski (nee: Fiddler) on July 24, 2025.

Julie was born on December 6, 1970, and raised in Prince Albert, SK. She had a creative spirit and enjoyed drawing and painting. With a deep curiosity about the natural world, she also explored reflexology and massage. Music and singing were sources of joy for her, and she was always quick to laugh, joke, and lovingly tease those around her. Julie cherished her time with family, especially her grandchildren. Although she couldn’t always visit in person, video chats became her lifeline to stay connected; she never missed a chance to check in, laugh, and share love across the screen. It brought her so much happiness. Julie’s home was always open; whether you needed a meal, a bed, or simply someone to listen, she welcomed everyone with warmth and generosity; no one was ever turned away. Her heart was so big that it couldn’t continue to go on any longer. Julie fought every single day to smile, to be present, and to create memories for her children, grandchildren, and all her family and friends.

Julie is survived by her children Brody (Destiny) Markowski, Colten (Montana) Markowski, Hailey Fiddler; grandchildren Asher, Jemma, and one grandchild expected in 2026; sisters Cheryl (Robert) Reed, Lorie Fiddler, Carrie (Brian) MacKay, Connie (Todd) Basaraba; brother Calvin Peters; special friend Gary Markowski; honorary pallbearers Angela Strom, Chad Fiddler, Katie Peters, Brian Agren, Kim Parenteau, and Austin Fietz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents Curly Fiddler and Marilyn Fiddler; grandparents Romeo and Mary Parenteau and Alfred and Margaret Fiddler; special friend Harvey Gamelin; godparents Roland Henry and Lorraine Henry; brother-in-law Cecil Vermette.

Thank you to the staff at the Dialysis Unit and Herb Basset Home.
