Obituary of Murray Dale Loewen
It is with sad and hopeful hearts that we announce Murray Dale Loewen went to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on the morning of Thursday, July 24, 2025.
Murray leaves behind Brenda, his beloved wife; son Tyler (Jennifer) Loewen and their children Charles and Winifred; daughter Marta (Logan) Loewen-Dyck and their children Huxley, Killian, Nimue, and Luther; grown granddaughters Brittney and McKayla Loewen. He will be missed by his mother Hazel; siblings Sharon (Rod), Barry (Kay), and Gregg (Heather); mother-in-law Ann Speirs, brother-in-law Del (Joanne) Wiberg, and many nieces and nephews. Murray’s family looks forward with assurance of our reunion in heaven one day.
Murray was predeceased by his father Ed Loewen, as well as his infant brother Brian, and his fathers-in-law Arnold Speirs and Don Wiberg.
Murray was born June 4, 1959, in Regina, to Edward & Hazel Loewen. Murray attended the University of Regina where he acquired a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Bachelor of Education Degree.
While nearing the end of his university training, Murray was introduced to Brenda through a young adult’s group at church. The two were married on November 11th, 1982, and nurtured their love for the next 42+ years. Murray was incredibly proud to welcome their most precious son and daughter into this world; becoming a father, and later a grandfather, were among his greatest accomplishments.
His first teaching job brought his young family to Prince Albert in 1985, when Murray taught under a Natonum Community College contract with the Saskatchewan Penitentiary. His experience teaching federal inmates influenced his life and enriched his repertoire of stories to share. A few years later, Murray transferred to the main campus of the community college where he taught an array of classes to adult students as the college eventually became a part of the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology. While teaching full time, Murray still managed to complete his Bachelor of Social Work degree and later completed his 30 year career as the program head of Adult Education at SIAST.
Even in retirement, Murray loved to teach. He wove teaching into everyday experiences as he lovingly cared for his family, especially his grandchildren. This expanded as he supported Brenda in nurturing their precious clients at Loewen Personal Care Home for 22 years, whether instructing first aid or advising the staff on the intricacies of the kitchen. Murray loved baking and cooking and was as at home in his kitchen as he was over a campfire. Camping trips with the family were a favorite hobby and the source of wonderful memories.
The family wishes to thank Doctor Dale Ardell, as well as the wonderful nurses and Care Aides from Pineland Homecare for their exceptional care these many months.

“But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and that he will stand upon the earth at last. And after my body has decayed, yet in my body I will see God! I will see him for myself. Yes, I will see him with my own eyes. I am overwhelmed at the thought!” Job 19:25-27
