Nick Bereziak

Obituary of Nick Bereziak

Nick Bereziak was born June 25th, 1933, in Strong Pine, Saskatchewan to Sadie and William Bereziak. He grew up a middle child out of 13 . Nick is lovingly survived by his three daughters, Connie (Reg) Richard, Cathy (Cory) Kitagawa and their three children Brynn, Brett, and Lowen, and Donna Bereziak; sisters, Natty, Anne, Rose, and Pauline as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Nick is predeceased by his wife of 58 years Brenda; his parents, Sadie and William; his brothers, John, Pete, George, and Jim; and his half-sisters, Mary and Lena.

Nick attended Mons School to grade 8 at which time the needs of the farm required that he leave school. The family farm was his true passion, he deeply enjoyed working on that farm and spending long days into his retirement grooming the land and harvesting a large garden. This farm was owned  and run by the Bereziak family for 102 years.

As a young man Nick farmed in the spring and summers and worked in the bush in the winters cutting poles. Nick also ran the threshing machine for many years for the Wolitzky family until he bought his own combine and started to do work for other farmers.

Nick got married in 1964 to Brenda Reid and celebrated 58 years together prior to her passing in 2022.  The loss of Brenda, his life partner, left a huge void for Nick which his daughters worked hard to fill offering support to Nick how they could.

Nick worked for CO-OP Implements for 27 years selling farm equipment  which he loved. After his work as a salesman Nick collected and restored old farm equipment paying attention to every detail. Nick also worked briefly for The City of Prince Albert in the jail cells prior to embracing retirement fully.

Nick enjoyed going to auctions, farming and gardening with his wife Brenda. Nick will always be remembered as a proud, independent, and stubborn man. Nick took great pride in his gardens, lawns, and trees both at his longtime home on 4th street and at the farm. In his younger days he enjoyed going to dances on weekends with Brenda, volunteering for the Ukrainian association, having coffee at A & W with the coffee crew, helping his daughters how he could and working in his garage. Nick is a long and active member of the United Church and he and Brenda attended church every Sunday long into his retirement. Nick celebrated his 92nd birthday in June.

Nick gave his family 92 years with their son, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He will be missed by all
