Obituary of Wayne Paul Tash
Wayne Paul Tash
September 4, 1962 – August 29, 2025
It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that our family announces the passing of Wayne Tash. He passed away surrounded by his family, after a very difficult and brief battle with cancer at the age of 62.
Wayne will be deeply missed by his loving and devoted wife, Marlene (Geres); his three cherished sons and six beloved grandchildren: Adam (Tara) and their children Spencer and Liam; Brendan (Lindsay) and their children Lacey, Carson, and Sawyer; and Austin (Brittany) with their daughter Aryia and another grandchild expected in October. He is also survived by his mother, Eva Tash; brother, Rick Tash (Maureen); sister, Shelley Lemoal (Brad); mother-in-law, Marian Geres; sisters-in-law, Cherryl Kotzer (Warren), Jo-Ann Erhardt (Chad), and Twila Rosin (Mervin); along with numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear extended family members and special friends
Wayne was predeceased by his grandparents, Ed and Lucie Landry, and Julius and Stella Taszlikowicz; his father, Ed Tash; and his father-in-law, Reinhold Geres.
Wayne was born and raised in Prince Albert, SK, by his parents, Ed and Eva Tash. He graduated from high school in 1981 and tried his hand at shoe sales, the oilfield, and a few other ventures before joining the family business, ET Carpeting, as an installer. Wayne met Marlene in 1983, and in 1987, they married, beginning to build their life and family together. In 1989, Wayne and his brother, Rick and sister, Shelley, opened a second store, Tash’s Carpet Bargains, which is now known as Tash’s Flooring and remains a family-owned and operated business, run today by Wayne and Marlene’s three sons: Adam, Brendan, and Austin. Wayne retired in 2020 and began travelling with Marlene, their family, and friends.
Wayne’s greatest joy was his family, who were truly his life. He found his deepest fulfillment in being a husband, a dad, and a Papa, and the love he poured into his family will live on through them always. Music was woven through every part of who he was - whether making it, playing it, or simply discovering new bands and concerts to enjoy. During the pandemic, Wayne travelled to Nashville to record three of the songs he had written, fulfilling an item on his bucket list. Our family would love to share these songs, which have become so precious to us and can be found on Spotify and Apple Music for those who would like to experience the joy they brought him and us. Wayne also loved bringing family and friends along to experience music with him, whether in an old dive bar, a school gymnasium, or a big arena; he believed the best memories came from simply enjoying a good time together. He and Marlene shared countless concerts, both near and far, often combining their love of music with their love of travel.
Wayne loved escaping to their home in Phoenix during the winter months with Marlene, where they enjoyed hiking, attending spring ball, concerts, and hosting family and friends. He also treasured time at their home away from home at the lake - mornings with coffee on the deck, days out on the water, and evenings of music and good conversation around the fire with loved ones. He looked forward every year to fishing trips with his boys, and they will cherish the memories of triple headers and late-night laughter around the fire. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and Papa will always be remembered for his endless knock-knock jokes, sword fights, quadding adventures, and popsicles shared side by side.
It is hard for any of us to imagine life without Wayne. The life he built with Marlene, and the love and legacy of the family he leaves behind, will live on in their children and grandchildren, and in all our hearts forever.
