Obituary of Paul Alexander Ursaki
PAUL ALEXANDER URSAKI – 11 JANUARY 1929 – 29 AUGUST 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce that our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Paul, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 29, 2025, at the age of 96 years.
Paul was born in Regina, SK on January 11, 1929, to Albert and Katherine Ursaki. The family lived on a farm outside Regina, SK and the first home he remembered was a sod hut on the open prairie. The family moved to Regina when his father opened the Tractor Boneyard, an agricultural parts lot, and Paul attended public school, most notably Balfour Technical High School, where he made several life-long friends. When not in school, he worked for his father at Tractor Boneyard, acquiring the mechanical skills and acumen that were his hallmark all his life.
In 1952, he married Dorothy (Dot) Massey, from Prince Albert, SK and subsequently moved there and got a job working at Burns foods. Paul remained a steadfast and dedicated husband and partner to Dorothy for 63 years, only ending with her passing in 2015. During that time, Paul and Dorothy had four children, three sons and one daughter, with another daughter passing away shortly after birth. Paul dedicated the entire rest of his life to supporting and raising his family, working numerous jobs: welder and shop foreman at Burns, taxi owner/driver at Grey Cab, and (along with Dot) owned/operated a small grocery store, worked as night janitors at the Co-op grocery store on Central Ave., worked as building superintendents/cleaners at Applegreen Park, plus he worked at a fitness club as their morning man and mechanical support. Paul did everything a husband and father could possibly do to support his family and ensure their success, not only throughout his working life, but long after retirement as well. In addition to his family, Paul also very much enjoyed playing golf, only giving up the game when he could no longer physically do it.
Paul was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Katherine Ursaki; his in-laws, James and Beatrice Massey (nee McLaughlin); his elder sister, Kathleen and her husband Bill McLavish and his daughter Rene.
He is survived by his eldest son, Grant; his twins, son Calvin (MaryLynn) and daughter Coral Dallman (Dave); and his youngest son, Barry (Lea-Arin); granddaughters, Shaylyn Hayduk (Dan), Desiree Dallman, Caitlyn Ursaki and Karmyn van Huisen; and his grandsons, Trevor Dallman (Deborah), Jason Dallman (Laurianne), and Brayden Ursaki (Nicole); plus, several great-grandchildren.
We will all deeply miss his wisdom, kindness, guidance, humor, and example. His life truly had a huge impact on all of our lives, and his passing has left a hole that now only memories will fill.
Paul wished to express his profound thanks to all the staff at the Jubilee Lodge extended care home in Kinistino, SK for their exceptional and compassionate care throughout his final two years of life. He was truly happy living there.
As per Paul’s wishes, there will not be a formal funeral service, but a private memorial gathering at a later date and time.
