Obituary of Helmer Svenningsen
It is with a heavy heart the family announces the sudden passing of Helmer Svenningson. A service will be held during the Interment 11:00am, Saturday, June 18th, 2011 at the Woodlawn Cemetery in North Batleford. Helmer passed away at home with his loving wife of 40 years, Marlene by his side. Along with Marlene, Helmer leaves behind to cherish his memory: his daughters, Sandra Jones, Donna Lofstrom Bell (Doug) and Diane Simon (Chris) and his son, Rick Lofstrom (Wanda), his granddaughters, Kelsey and Alicia Jones, Jessie Forman, Tracy Roach and Alexandra Simon, his grandsons, Stephen, Matthew(Paige) and Jared Lofstrom, Stevie Simon and his great-granddaughter Emma Forman. Also left to cherish his memory is his brother Roy (Aileen) and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Helmer was predeceased by his parents, Agnes and Bernhard, his sisters Margaret and June, an infant brother Harold, his first wife Myrtle Lofts, his mother-in-law Bertha and father-in-law Elmer, his brother-in-law Peter, his sisters-in-law Francis, Lynda, and Mary, his brother-in-law Roland. Helmer was born in Salter, Saskatchewan on April 15, 1930, his family moved to Mayfair which was his home until he graduated in 1948. In 1955, Helmer began his 35 year career with SaskPower until he retired in Spiritwood in 1990. Helmer was a kind hearted gentle soul who was loved by all who were blessed to know him. He enjoyed playing cards and would never say no to a game of Kaiser or gin rummy. He spent many hours doing his crossword and sudoku puzzles and playing around on the computer. Camping was a favorite past time of Helmer's and his family and granchildren will always cherish the memories spending time with him at various lakes around Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northern Lakes Health Committee -Physician Recruitment, Town of Spiritwood. Email condolences will be forwarded to the family.
