Obituary of Perle Ruth Stephenson
With heavy hearts the family announce the passing of their dear Mother, Grandmother and Greatgrandmother Perle Stephenson on May 19, 2012. Perle was born to Louis and Bertha Pelchat on May 23rd, 1940 in the Shell River District; sixth child in a family of eight. Perle attended Shell River and Victoire Schools receiving her grade 8. After her Dad passed away she dropped out of school to help her Mom care for her younger siblings. Perle attended a house party where she met Ralph Stephenson, he became her husband on January 2nd, 1959. Perle and Ralph were blessed with five children: Brenda Marie, Wesley Louis, Timothy Ralph (Tim Tim), Steven Allan, who sadly passed away at the tender age of two, and Candy Susanne Margaret (Candy Girl). The holidays were very important to Perle, spending them with her and Ralph's family. Perle was a quiet woman, never liking to be in front, she could always be seen in the background helping and volunteering. Ralph taught square dancing and she was there helping, she also was a member of the Shell River Trail Seekers, and gave slow pitch a try too; however she didn't seem to remember to run to 1st instead of 3rd. Perle became a school girl again when she went back to school taking sewing classes in Shell Lake, after this she upgraded her education and completed three grades in two years, graduating in 1975. She enjoyed learning, she and Wes then took a carpentry course together. Happy moments for Perle were spent with family; her children and grandchildren, they were her pride and joy. She loved helping her family and she considered her time travelling to be with them as her mini holidays. Other moments of joy included; having coffee with her friends, traveling to Lloydminster with friends, hardly ever missing bingo, and her cookie parties were a must attend affair. Perle enjoyed cards, Scrabble and reading; westerns, chicken soup books, and find word puzzles. She also enjoyed watching her shows; CSI, Grays, and game shows, but all stopped when the news came on. Perle will be remembered for her sweet smile, quiet ways and so much more. She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband of 53 years, Ralph and her children: Brenda (Ivel) Hotvedt of Lloydminster, SK, Wesley (Stacy) Stephenson of Shell Lake, SK, Tim (Tashia) Stephenson of Shell Lake, SK, Candy (Brad) Millard of Waseca, SK; her grandchildren: Nikki (Layne) Allen of Blackfoot, AB & their children, Kyle, Caitlynn, Kasda & Jaysa; Felicia (Trevor) Spilchuk of Lloydminster, SK, & their children, Hunter & Memphis; Destiny & Shelby Heimbecker, Jamie & Abby Millard of Waseca, SK; Jayden Perron-Stephenson, Savannah, Lakota & Michael Perron & Taylor Fash of Shell Lake, SK; her siblings: Opal (Harry) Rogowski, Marie Kostiuk, Uric (Sarah) Pelchat, Donald (Val) Pelchat, Ursula Farmer, and sister in Law, Cathy Pelchat and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She is predeceased by: her son, Stevie, her parents, Louis and Bertha Pelchat, her parents-in-law, Wesley and Margaret Stephenson, her siblings, Ruby Laxdal and Claude Pelchat, and her brother-in-law, Ernie Farmer. Funeral Service for Perle was held Thursday, May 24rd, 2012 at 3:00 pm from the Lion's Hall in Shell Lake, Sk. Interment followed in the Shell Lake Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers for Perle were all of her "coffee and cookie party friends."
