Obituary of Narcisse Joseph Robert Caffet

Narcisse Caffet

April 15, 1934 – April 19, 2024

Narcisse Joseph Robert Caffet son of Elizabeth Caffet born April 15, 1934. Narcisse was raised on a small farm 5 miles west of Spiritwood. He went to school in Bapaume, Saskatchewan. He started working at a very young age doing various jobs feeding and milking cows and helping with thrashing. He met the love of his life, a young schoolteacher named Joan Symes and they were married in 1959. They bought a quarter of land with a house 1 mile west of where he grew up. Together, Narcisse and Joan raised five children: Bettyanne, Glen, Patricia, Phillip, and Donald. They have 15 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

Narcisse worked various jobs during winter months such as logging and running equipment up north. The money he made in the winter would help pay bills that were accumulated while farming and if any was left over, he would buy some cows or land.

Narcisse was a well-mannered man who enjoyed the company of friends and family. He loved playing fiddle, guitar, singing, playing any card games, baseball, and curling. He won baseball championships and won many curling trophies over the years. He was a charter member of the Spiritwood Knights of Columbus Council 5353 for over 61 years. He served on the Spiritwood RM as counsellor for many years and then as reeve. He also served on the school board and many other committees in Spiritwood throughout the years. While living in Spiritwood, Narcisse worked as a guard for the Spiritwood RCMP detachment for 20 years and retired in 2014.

Narcisse and Joan moved to Spiritwood in 1994. Joan passed in 2006 and Narcisse continued to live there until 2022. He then moved back to the farm to live with Don and Nancy. In July of 2023, Narcisse spent 1 month in respite at the Leoville Evergreen Health Centre. He then moved to the Rosegill Lodge in Rabbit Lake, SK where he spent the remainder of his life. Narcisse passed away peacefully in the morning of April 19th, 2024.
