Barbara Victoria Bradley

Barbara was born on July 20, 1928, in Dinsmore, Saskatchewan. She passed away peacefully on April 30, 2024, at the age of 95 years, in the Palliative care unit in Big River, Saskatchewan.

Barbara went to school in Saskatoon in Normal School to be a teacher. She came to the Delaronde Lake Saskatchewan area to teach at age 19.

Barbara taught at the Green Mantal District School and raised eight children along with her husband Edward. She met Edward (School Bus Driver) and they married in 1950.  Barbara and Edward were married for 65 years. 

Barbara and Edward lived in Big River, Saskatchewan their entire married life.

In Barb’s younger years, she and 2 friends ran a catering company called BCD.  They were amazing and were always in demand in the community of Big River. 

Barb enjoyed many hobbies; camping, curling, walking, picking berries, traveling, and she loved shopping.  She was a devout member of the United Church which she attended regularly up until a few years ago.  She volunteered for many years with the United Church women’s group in many different roles.  In her later years, she enjoyed watching curling and was a voracious reader.   She enjoyed doing word and number challenge games daily. 

Barb loved making soup for her kids and grandchildren. She reveled in the simplicity of life!

A Celebration of Life will be held for Barbara at the Big River Community Hall on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Barbara will be buried at the Big River Cemetery with her husband Edward, and her son Kelly.  Barbara is survived by her children, Hal (Sharon), Blair (Cindy), Arlene (Ron), Heather, Lori (Gord), Greg (Cathy), and Holly (Ron).

She was predeceased by her husband Edward, her son Kelly, and daughter-in-law Sharon.

In lieu of tributes, memorial donations can be made in memory of Barbara to the Lakewood Lodge Auxiliary Big River (Box 846 Big River, SK S0J 0E0).
