Obituary of Maggy "Peggy" Letkeman
On October 3, 2006 Peggy passed away peacefully with family by her side at Wheatland Lodge in Leask, SK at the age of 82. She was born the middle daughter of three girls to Jim and Marion Elder on April 6, 1924 in Saskatoon, SK. On June 25, 1948 she married Leonard Letkeman. From a previous marriage, she brought four wonderful children - Jim, Wayne, Dave and Sandra. Peggy and Leonard added one more daughter, Sharon. The family settled down on their farm in the Shell Lake district. Peggy was always a very hard worker and she had a big garden. She also helped Leonard do farm chores. In 2003 she had the misfortune of losing her son, Jim. For the last year and a half, Peggy resided comfortably in the Wheatland Lodge until her passing. She leaves to cherish her memory her children Wayne (Lorraine) Saam of Shellbrook, SK, Dave (Marilyn) Saam of Mildred, SK, Sandra (Lloyd) Lang of Shell Lake, SK and Sharon (Elmer) Lammedee of Paddockwood,SK; her daughter in-law Dianne Saam of Shaunovan, SK; 20 grandchildren: Gerry, Paula, Harriet, Danny, Darryl, Jody, Lori, Jeff, Ben, Gordon, Chrystal, Lisa, Roxanne, Tania, Feline, Pamella, Sherry, Cindy, Theresa and Stewart; 41 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; her sisters Elizabeth Schwartz of Calgary, AB and Jean Clark of Shell Lake, SK; her sister in-laws Lucy (Bud) Bundy of Shell Lake, SK, Elsie (Jim) Funk of Hafford, SK and Doreen Smith of Hafford, SK; numerous nieces and nephews; special friend Grant West as well as the special care givers of Wheatland Lodge. She was predeceased by her parents James and Marion Elder, her husband Leonard Letkeman, her son Jim Saam, her infant brother David, her in-laws Heinrich and Agnetha Letkeman, her brother in-laws Chris Schwartz, Keith Clark and Edward Smith.
