My deepest sympathy to your family on Wally's passing. I was an instructor at SIIT several years ago and will remember Wally's kindness and laughter. My husband and I have seen Wally several times at the Casino in PA and he always remembered us and we would have a good visit.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences. I admired and respected Wally as a man and as an administrator. What an example of persistence and compassion. His life seemed to be a battle to overcome adversity in his own life, and then to help others to do the same. He will have a positive and long-lasting effect on students, staff, and colleagues he has worked with.

Wally was a good friend to First Nations University of Canada, where I work. He was a strong believer in the potential of First Nations people to succeed in post-secondary education. My thoughts are with Wally's family and friends during this difficult time.

I met Wally in the mid-80's when I began the Businesss Admin program at SIIT in Prince Albert. He was a great person, a great motivator, a great humourist...and a very compassionate and caring person. I can still picture him walking down the hall of the campus, either talking away or laughing, there were not many times he was silent, lol. I finished my program in 1989 and lost touch with Wally, but then I began work in the Finance departmet at SIIT Head Office. The first time I had contact with Wally wiped away the years absence we had, it was like we had only talked yesterday and he had not changed at all. He still was the loud talking guy with the big laugh, still teasing & joking. There are not very many people that have left a lasting impression with me but I can honestly say that Wally was definitely one of them. He was a big help in shaping my life and for that I am forever grateful. May he rest in peace and may the family treasure all the memories that they have of him and all the memories that are shared, such as mine.

I have not forgotten the strong impression that Wally made on me during his visist to my classroom at Montreal Lake in 1996...my first teaching position. He always stated things the way he saw them, with no apology...wise and eloquent ...encouraging students to work hard and achieve great things... he cared for staff and students as his own responsibility, and there were never any outsiders. I will miss his warm smile and firm handshake that made me feel valued. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched and made a difference in.

My heartfelt condolences to the family of Wally Isbister. The years that I spent at SIIT under his watchful eye were two of the most memorable years of my life. Wally was my mentor, he was someone I wanted to be like. I modeled my teaching career after all the lessons I learned from him. The way he treated people reflected the amazing person he was inside. I for one will miss him dearly. When no one else would he took a chance and believed in me, then he showed me how to believe in myself. Thank you Wally, you played such a major role in my life and I never really got to tell you how much I appreciated it.
