Obituary of Emma Bertha Arcand
The family of Emma Arcand are deeply saddened to announce Emma's sudden passing on October 18, 2006 at the age of 82. She was born in Jackfish Lake, SK on May 4, 1924 to George and Mary Louise Loyie. She had five brothers and two sisters. Emma married Victor Arcand on June 2, 1939 in Mattis, SK. She loved quilting, putting together puzzles, knitting and crocheting. She never missed any ones birthday and loved each and every one of her grand children and great grandchildren. She loved to visit with her family and friends and also her adventures with Aunty Bella and her neighbor ladies who had grown very dear to her. She is dearly missed. One can't help but realize that even in death, her presence is felt in every part of our lives. Emma will be remembered and sadly missed by her sons and daughters John and Vicki of Saskatoon, SK, Vic and Lucille of Debden, SK, Norman and Diane of Debden, SK, Orville and Darlene of Big River, SK, Donald and Betty Ann of Edmonton, AB, George and Cheryl of Leoville, SK, Emily and Warren of Meath Park, SK, Ralph and Lorna of Debden, SK, Linda and Edward of Whitecourt, AB and Shirley of Debden, SK; 40 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, her sister Rema Metcalfe, her brother Lawrence Loyie, her brother in-law Damas Arcand, her sister in-laws Ada Arcand and Bella Arcand as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Victor Sr. in 1975, 4 infant children, her grandson Jean-Guy (Chun), her parents George and Mary Louise Loyie, her sister Bella (Ambrose) Wright, her brothers Leon (Vikki), Harry, Buster and Archie as well as numerous brother and sister in-laws. The Vigil of Prayers was held on Sunday, October 22nd, 2006 at 7 p.m. from St. Jean Baptiste R. C. Church in Debden. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, October 23rd, 2006 at 2 p.m. from St. Jean Baptiste R. C. Church with Rev. Fr. Vincent Karatunga as the celebrant. The soloists were Michelle Arcand, Jason Suderman and Audrey Dore. The choir director was Louise Marchildon and the organist was Monica Svendsen. Johnny Painchaud was the cross bearer and the eulogy was read by Chris Andersen and Amber McSorley. Honorary pallbearers were all relatives and friends who shared in Emma's life and the active pallbearers were Vincent Arcand, Keith Arcand, Chris Andersen, Clinton Arcand, Robin Suderman, Lance Arcand, Ashley Arcand and Darryl Dore. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Assoc. or Legs Unlimited - Gateway Mall1403 Central Avenue Prince Albert, SK S6V 7J4. Emma was laid to rest in the Park Valley Cemetery.
