Mervin Stephen Goller
August 22, 1928 – February 10, 2015
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mervin Stephen Goller of Spiritwood, Sk. at the age of 86 years. Mervin was born in the Wakaw area to Michael and Theresa Goller and was the second oldest of 9 boys and 4 girls. He worked on the family farm and bought a sprayer with his father and did custom work. In 1951, he met the love of his life, Rose Elizabeth Vinish, whom he called “Sweetheart” until the end. He went to Spiritwood to make a deal with Mr. Faszak to buy land. In 1952 he married Rose and they moved to their land in Spiritwood, where they have lived since. They raised nine children.
Mervin leaves to mourn in his passing and cherish in his memory his loving wife of 62 years, Rose, his loving children: Elmer (Claire), Eleanor (Don) McGillivray, Sharon (Dave) Hutchings, Sheldon (Sharon), Dwaine, Darlene (Dennis) Harris, Marlene (Mark) Neumann, Raymond (Tamara), Greg (Maryrose), and daughter-in-law Lise Laventure. His 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. His four brothers Herbert (Shirley), Eli (Carol), Donald (Adeline), Richard (Ann); his two sisters Caroline Frechette, Bertha Goller. His brothers and sisters in-law: Mike Simon, Donna Goller, Margaret Goller, Irene & Cyril Marcotte, Elsie Ziebart, Elaine Vinish, Joseph Vinish, Don Vinish, Dennis & Betty Vinish, Larry & Linda Vinish. As well numerous nieces and nephews.
Mervin was predeceased by his parents Michael and Theresa Goller, his in-laws, Joseph and Margaret Vinish, his brothers and sisters Albert Goller, Mary-Ella Simon, Leo Goller, Margaret Schnieder, Edward Goller, and infant brother John Goller. His brothers and sisters-in laws: Francis Schnieder, Armand Frechette, Theresa & Rodney Cook, Dennis Ziebart, Edward Vinish.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, February 16th, 2015 from the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Spiritwood, Saskatchewan with Father Dong Doan officiating.
Memorial Donations in Mervin’s honor would be gratefully accepted for Mervin’s grandson - Jesse Goller with ongoing cancer treatments.
