Obituary of Alfred "Fred" Sevigny
The family of Alfred Sevigny are saddened to announce Alfred's passing on May 14, 2007 at the age of 95 years. He was born Oct. 11, 1911 in New Bedford, Massachusetts to Alfred Joseph Sevigny and Marie Azilda Berube. Alfred was predeceased by his mother in 1935 and his father in 1944 as well as all 10 of his siblings Laura (Abraham) Parent in Feb. 2007, Edgar in 1944, Narcisse 'Pete' in 1977, Rose (Aristide) Bruneau in 1991, Marie-Anne (Wilfred) Audette in 1993, Louis in 2001, Noel in 1986, Laurent 'Bill' in 1971 and George in 1995 as well as a number of nieces and nephews and card playing cronies. Fred came to Leoville in 1929 with his parents. In May 1930, he took out a homestead 10 miles north of Leoville. He farmed that quarter as well as a farm that he purchased east of Leoville until his retirement in the 70's. Fred had an amazing memory almost until the end for people and events that happened many years ago. Fred, as he was known to most, is survived and will be fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews as well as many other people whom he had contact with over the years. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, May 18th, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Therese R. C. Church in Leoville with Rev. Fr. Lennard Sabio as the celebrant. The eulogy was given by Joseph Bruneau. The choir director was Ed Samson and the organist was Denise Kuzyk. Honorary pall bearers were all relatives and friends who shared in Alfred's life and the urn bearer was Leo Bruneau. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a Recliner Chair for Evergreen Health Centre or Rose Gill Lodge in Rabbit Lake. Alfred was laid to rest in the Leoville Cemetery.
