Obituary of Joy Ruby Odell Steger

Joy Steger 1939- 2015 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joy Steger on Sunday Oct 4th. Joy passed away peacefully with family by her side, at the Shellbrook hospital, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was a loving sibling, mother, grandmother and friend to all. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband Franklin; her daughter Barb Danberg and her family Ryan (Roxanne) Danberg and children Sully & Sam, Kyle (Afton) Danberg and children Tucker & Dawson, and Cody Danberg; her son Scott (Corine) Morrice and their family Craig Morrice, Carey (Dwayne) Ouellette, and Jamie Verbonac; her siblings Irving (Shirley) Opdahl, Conrad (Joyce) Opdahl, Jerrold (Jean) Opdahl, Dale (Lillian) Opdahl, Linda (Ron) Lamabe, and Marianne Prosofsky; her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Vern (Dawn) Steger, and Marlene Steger. She was predeceased by her parents Joar and Pearl Opdahl, brother Herman Opdahl, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Robert Prosofsky, Leona (Don) Pevach, father-in-law and mother-in-law Frank and Mary Steger. One of Joy’s favorite things was to spend time with all of her family and friends at Martins Lake. It was very important to her to put on a good meal for the family and share company amongst each other. She took great pride in her grandboys and always made sure they had lots of love and care when she was with them. Her other favorite place was St. Petersburg, FLA. Where her and Franklin spent many winters, met lots of new friends and liked to host visitors throughout her time there. The family invites friends to join then at 3:30pm on Thursday October 8, 2015 for a time of fellowship in memory of Joy at the Marcelin Community Hall, Marcelin, SK. Memorial donations in Joy’s memory may be directed to The Shellbrook and Districts Health Services Foundation.
