Obituary of Andrew Paul Swityk
Andrew Swityk
1928 – 2015
Andrew and his twin Peter were born on Nov 26, 1928, to John and Pearl Swityk, to make up a family of thirteen children. The family moved to the Pelican Lake (later known as Junor or Pearl) District. The Swityk’s home became the local stopover for settlers and aboriginals traveling through the area. Andrew was a man who fought for life, overcoming tuberculosis and spinal meningitis as well as having a heart defect.
He truly lived life exactly the way he wanted too.
Andrew loved being on his trapline- a longtime member of the trappers association, hauling logs, bush work, cutting poles, farming and the forest. He also enjoyed making drags for the road, picking mushrooms, sitting by the fire telling stories, and making smudges – he was a master at making smudges and taught all the kids how. The sky, the fiddle and the juice harp were some of his favorite things. Andrew had an unspoken connection with nature, loved to make others happy, loved to play his fiddle, he was a man who touched so many people with gentle kindness.
Andrew’s life was well lived.
Andrew is lovingly remembered by: his best friend and hunting partner, Gil Grabatin, Peter (Karen) Bill and family: Neil, Simone, Ryan, Shannon, Laura, Cory, Justice, Thea, Santanna and Dalton, Susie Ethier and her son, Dusty and her niece, Genesha, his brother-in-law, Myron Chomicki of North Battleford, SK, an abundance of nieces, nephews, family and friends. He is predeceased by: his parents, John and Pearl Swityk, his sisters, Mary, Annie, Sophie, Kay, Olga and infant, Lena, his brothers, Nick, Metro, Mike, Bill, Peter and infant, John, his brothers-in-law, William Pylypchuk, Walter Kuchta, Walter Haydukewich and Albert Rivard, his sisters-in-law, Pearl, Mary and Sonya.
