William Baynes
July 8th, 1930 - October 28th, 2015
Bill was born July 8, 1930 in North Battleford. He lived most of his life in the Leoville and Spiritwood area with the exception of 5 years during his childhood when his family moved to Cowichan Station on Vancouver Island. Bill bought his farm near Bapaume in 1953, and spent the next 57 years there. Together with his wife Doreen, they mix farmed and raised a family of 4. Bill worked hard during the day and enjoyed visiting family and friends in the evening either in person or on the phone. He was a generous man who was always eager to help others. He loved to sing and often sang as he worked or drove a vehicle. In 1998 Bill was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, and in 2010 he moved into the Spiritwood Nursing Home where he spent his last 5 years. He donated his brain and spinal cord for research.
Bill is lovingly remembered by: his wife of 58 years, Doreen Baynes (nee: Millar), his daughter, Debbie Womacks and family: Amanda (Adrian) Bullock and children: Abigail & Darius; Dryden (Ashley) and children: Lane & Declan; his son, Eric (Pearl) Baynes and family: Christin (Mark) Egeland and children: Gauge & Emma; Jason (Tiffany) and children: Leah & Ryan; his daughter, Ida (Dwight) Hemmerling and family: Chett (Melanie); Chad (Jasmin) and son: Logan; Mason (Renee) and daughter, Jaina; Owen (Larissa), his siblings: John “Jack” Baynes, Frank Baynes, his siblings-in-law: Louise Baynes, Emma Baynes, Elvin Knutson, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is predeceased by: his parents, James and Clara Baynes, his son, Roger Baynes, his son-in-law, Larry Howdle, his sister, Betty Knutson and brothers; Richard and Clifton Baynes, his sisters-in-law; Mary, Eva and Kay Baynes.
The Funeral Service officiated by Wendall Whitter was held Saturday, November 7th, 2015 Curling and Bowling Mezzanine, Spiritwood, Saskatchewan.
