Obituary of E Ruth Vickers

VICKERS, E. RUTH- The family of Ruth Vickers is saddened to announce her passing on January 23, 2016 at the age of 94. Ruth was born in Moose Jaw in 1921 to D'Arcy and Esther Dennis and raised with brothers Murray and Allan, now deceased. In 1946 she married James R. Forrest (deceased) and together they raised sons David, Roger (deceased) and Robert. Sandy Hislop-Forrest became as close as her own daughter. Ruth taught 5 years in rural schools and 26 years in Prince Albert schools. In 1977 Ruth moved to Toronto to marry Rev. Albert (Ab) Vickers (deceased) at which time she joined a large family of children and siblings plus their families. She was active in Ab's pastoral and prison ministries, the U.C.W., and as a Board Member of the Davenport Music Festival. After Ab passed Ruth lived in Saskatoon before returning to Prince Albert. Ruth was happy to have been part of the lives of her students, friends and the Forrest, Vickers, Dennis, Reimann and other families. She mourned the passing of those who predeceased her and leaves to mourn many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends including lifelong friend Thelma Stanley. Ruth resided at Good Shepherd Villa in Prince Albert for 5 years where she became a member of another family, this time of staff and residents. We are grateful for the care and comfort she received. Ruth peacefully passed away in her room with family and faithful visitor Marjorie Hislop at her side. Ruth wished to be cremated and interred with her mother at Memorial Gardens, Prince Albert. A celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
