Obituary of Rose Julia Eros

Rose Eros passed away on August 11, 2007 in Spiritwood, SK. at the age of 93 years. Rose was born to Steve and Mary Suveges on August 2, 1914 into a family of 10 children. As a young girl she played a ukulele in a band. After a whirl wind courtship she married Steve Eros, June 13, 1932, in Prudhomme. The next day they left for their new home 6 miles south of Spiritwood with a team of horses and wagon. After getting settled they started their family and raised 4 children. Rose loved gardening and she always had vegetables to give away and also used to sell potatoes to the Spiritwood Idylwild Hospital. She was also a school trustee in the Willow Flats School. Rose learned to knit and crochet on her own and made many beautiful things. Her grandchildren can state that she was also a very good cook. In 1973 they sold their farm and moved to Spiritwood. To pass the time they started fishing and had lots of stories about their trips to share with friends and neighbors. They enjoyed many trips out of Alberta to visit their children and grandchildren. As the years went by arthritis started to take over Rose's body and walking became difficult. That is when she got her new scooter which enabled her to go shopping and even visiting many people. In 1987, her husband Steve suffered a stroke and was transferred to Rabbit Lake Nursing Home. Rose moved to Rabbit Lake to be near him and she met many new friends. Rose enjoyed her stay in Rabbit Lake, until she had a stroke and moved into Spiritwood Idylwild Lodge where she spent her past 10 years. She took part in many activities and put many, many puzzles together. Time was spent reading and making hand towels that she gave to family and friends. She also helped look after the flower and garden boxes at the home while she was able. We know there is a new star in heaven now.
