Obituary of Lori Mae Halayka
Lori Mae Halayka, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on August 25, 2016 at her home in Shellbrook, SK at the age of 65 years. She was born on May 3, 1951 in Biggar, SK to Sidney and Victoria Walker.
Lori married the love of her life, Peter Halayka in November of 1970 just after High School and they raised three children together. She was a caring wife, mother, and grandmother and a compassionate person, who would always think of others before herself, always giving and doing whatever she could to help out anyone in need. Once the children were grown, she enjoyed a few winters of travelling with her husband to some sunny and hot destinations. This included taking two of the grandkids on a remarkable and memorable trips to Disneyland one year and Disneyworld and a cruise another year. In recent years, she got the most enjoyment from spending time at their trailer at the lake and making new friends there. She was an avid reader and loved romance novels. She also loved watching Blue Jays baseball. Kaiser was a game she loved, especially the pass a card version. After each hand was played, she would have to explain her strategy to each player. She was thrilled to find a senior’s group in Shellbrook that shared a love for the game as much as she did. Lori will best be remembered for her love of gardening which could be seen by the immaculate state of her yard and flower beds both at home and at the lake, as well as, her passion for baking, making everyone’s favorite goodies whether it be her husband’s favorite cookies, rice krispie squares for the grandkids, or goodies for the Senior’s Kaiser group.
Lori will always be lovingly remembered by; her husband, Peter Halayka, her children, Peter Halayka, Katelyn (Greg Duval) Halayka and children, Logan and Lucas, Twyla Halayka and children, Lyndon & Dominic, her siblings, Sandra (Bent) Junker, Judy (Doug) Halayka, Bruce (Wendy) Walker, Debra (Murray) Clark. Lori was predeceased by; an infant daughter, Carrie, her parents; Sidney and Victoria Walker, her mother and father -in-law Peter Sr. & Catherine Halayka.
