Obituary of Milton Reidt
REIDT- Milton Edwin John Reidt, late of Shellbrook, passed away in Parkland Terrace Nursing Home on Wednesday, October 24, 2007. Milton was born January 22, 1929 on the family homestead in the Silver Grove district. He traveled several miles to the nearest school using a horse and cutter, and developed an appreciation of the outdoors. In his twenties, he began farming and married a school teacher from the Mistawasis district, Ella Lewis. Through the years, he watched farming evolve, as well as the living comforts of running water. In the 1960's, Milton took up the hobby of flying, and his silver Cessna was known by everyone. In the 1980's Milton and Ella scaled back the farm and yard work in order to be able to travel more, and took time to golf with his friends on a more frequent basis. Recently, Milton and Ella sold the farm and moved into a new home in Shellbrook. Milton had a quick grin, and a twinkle in his eye, and he was appreciated by all who knew him. Milton leaves to mourn, his loving wife, Ella; a daughter, Sherry Reidt of Prince Albert; a son, Dean (Debbie) Reidt of St. Albert AB; a sister, Lillian Reynolds of Saskatoon; a brother, Norman (Lucille) Reidt of Leask; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Anna and John Reidt; a sister, Charlotte Coates; a brother, Lloyd Reidt; a brother-in-law, Frank Reynolds. The funeral was held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Shellbrook on Saturday, October 27 at 2:00 pm with Reverend Doug Schmirler as officiant. The organist was Joanne Perkins, with special music by the St. John's Choir. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society, or to the Shellbrook and Districts Health Services Renovation Project. Interment in Silver Grove Cemetery was at a later date.
