William “Tub” Wingerter
Tub Wingerter was born September 27th, 1940 in Saskatoon SK. Tub passed away at home on March 9th, 2017 at the age of 76 years. He was the second oldest, the only son of four children born to John & Edith Wingerter. Shortly after he was born they moved to Kingston, Ontario while Grandpa John was in the army. Then they moved back to Timberlost where they homesteaded afterwards they moved to Mildred. He attended school in Mildred & graduated in Spiritwood. Tub married Neata in August of 1965 and moved to Prince George BC where he worked for BC Forestry. Candy was born in 1966 and Chris in 1967. The family eventually moved back to the Spiritwood area. Tub took his electrical apprenticeship got his journeyman's and worked as an electrician until taking over the Wingerter Store (the Old School) from his parents in 1977. One of Tub's greatest joys was giving kids candy or cookies. He always said what’s a little candy to see a kid smile. Tubs love of fishing and golfing with his family has left them with many heartfelt memories. Tub enjoyed the simple things in life & appreciated the beauty of his surroundings. In his later years his passions turned to going to auction sales to look for another special axe or power saw, then sneak it home. Tub's greatest love after Neata was his children, grandchildren, & great grandchildren. Tub is lovingly remembered by: his wife of 51 years, Neata; his daughter: Candy Craig of Spiritwood, SK and family: Tiffany (Jason) Baynes and their children: Leah and Ryan; Melissa (Marc) Chretien and their children: Tristen, Denai and Evan. His son Chris Wingerter (Bev Schmeichel) of Cold Lake, AB and family: Mitchell (Brittany), Jocelyn, Nicholas, Bri and Amanda. His sister, Penny Chorm (Lance Chivers) of Barriere, BC and his brothers-in-law, Al Green and Al Jacobson. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is predeceased by: his parents, John and Edith Wingerter; his sisters, Joyce Green and Rebecca Jacobson; his parents-in-law, Russell and Lola Overgard. The Funeral Service in Tub’s honor was held on March 15th, 2017 at the Spiritwood Civic Center with Delores Beaulac officiating. Beautiful musical tributes were given by Trevor Wingerter and Patty Heisler. His grandson Nicholas Wingerter was the urn bearer. Tub was laid to rest in the Spiritwood Cemetery.
