Obituary of Edward "Eddy" Abraham Bickert

Edward “Eddy” Abraham Bickert 1949 – 2017 Edward Abraham Bickert passed away peacefully on March 11, 2017 at the Prince Albert Hospital following a brief battle with cancer at age 67. He leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Marlene Bickert; his children, Shelly O’Sullivan, Lori Bickert, Scott Bickert, and Carla Bickert; five grandchildren and one great-grandson. Born in 1949 to Jake and Mary Bickert, Ed was the youngest of 10 siblings. Ed worked at the sawmill in Big River for a few years before heading to Prince George where he worked at a plywood plant. He then went to Saskatoon where he attended Kelsey Institute. He met Marlene in 1971, and they married November 9, 1974. In June of 1975 their first daughter was born. In the summer of 1983 they moved back to Big River where Ed started back at the sawmill, where he continued to work for 21 years. They had three more children: Lori, Scott and, Carla. In 1985 they purchased a quarter of land that belonged to his brother, and resided there until the mill closed down in 2004. They then moved to Prince Albert, where Ed enjoyed his retirement, and spending time with his grandchildren. Ed was pre-deceased by; his parents, Jake and Mary Bickert; his step-mother, Christine; sisters, Betty Meyers, Violet Longford, Mary Halsall, Anne Sladich, and Tina Casmay; and brother, Dick Bickert. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m on Friday, March 17th, 2017 at the Big River Community Centre with Celebrant Delores Beaulac officiating. Interment will follow in the Big River Cemetery.
