Obituary of Theodore Arnold STRAF

STRAF- Theodore "Ted" Arnold Straf, late of Shellbrook, SK. passed away on December 6, 2007 in the Shellbrook Hospital at the age of 79 years. Ted was born on April 30, 1928 in Brightholme, SK. to Max and Julianna Straf. He was educated at the Mont Teviot school. In his younger years, Ted loved dancing and playing hockey, ball and golf. He was an avid hunter and fisherman his entire life. On November 13, 1965 Ted married Betty at the Parkside Lutheran Church. They started their family and raised three lovely children. Ted was very proud of his family; however, he was always a man of few words. They lived in a white farm house on the same home quarter where Ted was born. Along side his brother Albert, Ted worked on the Straf family farm, growing grain and raising cattle until he retired to Shellbrook in 1998. Ted is lovingly remembered by; his wife, Betty (nee: Swan) Straf of Shellbrook, SK., son; Brent (Jessica) Straf of Prince Albert, SK. and their children, April and Paige, daughter, Dawn Straf of North Battleford, SK. and her son T.J. Straf, daughter, Allision (Greg) Solberg of Saskatoon, SK. and their children, Jayde and Brett, a sister; Adeline Straf of Prince Albert, SK., a mother-in-law, Rene Swan of Shellbrook, SK., a brother-in-law, Jim (Sandy) Swan of Canmore, AB., sisters-in-law, Paulette Straf of Leask, SK., Ann (Richard) Porter of Shellbrook, SK., Barb (Glen) Bloom of Leask, SK., Shirley (Don) Christianson of BC., Beatrice (Maurice) Stieb of Leask, SK., Linda (Bob) Miller of Shellbrook, SK., as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Ted was predeceased by; his parents, Maximillian and Julianna Straf, several infant siblings, brothers; Robert, Bill, John, Albert, sisters; Martha and Lydia, a father-in-law, Paul Swan. The Celebration of Life Service was held in the Shellbrook Senior's Hall at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 with David Hjertaas as the M.C. Tracey Bergen did the eulogy. The Honorary Pallbearers were "All of Ted's family and friends who knew and loved him.". The Active Pallbearers were Robert Stieb, Don Philip, T.J. Straf, Glen Bloom, Maurice Stieb, Greg Solberg. The interment will be in Brightholme Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes memorial donations may be made to the Shellbrook And Districts Health Services Project.
