Obituary of John Orest Hrycuik

JOHN HRYCUIK 1935 - 2017 The family of John Orest Hrycuik sadly announce his passing on April 9th, 2017 at Victoria Hospital, Prince Albert at the age of 81. John was born June 30th, 1935 in the R.M. of Fish Creek, East of Rosthern. He attended Kiev School in the country before moving to Saskatoon for high school. He was offered a job at Young, Saskatchewan to work for a dealership selling Massey Harris farm equipment. They also sold a full line of GM vehicles and parts. It was at Young where John met and married his wife Dorothy Dengler in 1958. In 1960 an opportunity to join Co-operative Implements farm machinery led to a move to Regina as a sales man. This is where their first daughter Susan was born. In 1961 John moved to Meadow Lake as manager of Co-op Implements to set up a new Depot there. While living in Meadow Lake their second daughter Connie was born. The family moved to Prince Albert in 1965. John was manager of Co-op Implements and supervised the new construction of the dealership South of Prince Albert. In 1976 John joined the Prince Albert Co-op as Service Station Manager and had many busy and enjoyable years there until he retired in 2000. John had six grandchildren and he was very interested in what they were doing. He loved to attend all the sporting events and activities they participated in. He never missed a chance to go fishing and camping with his family. John leaves to mourn his wife Dorothy of 58 years; his daughters Susan Sproull (Kim), Connie Mischuk (Donnie); six grandchildren Shane Sproull (Simone), Scott Sproull (Erica), Christie Sproull, Adam Mischuk, Laura Mischuk (Matt), Bradley Mischuk; his brothers Robert Hrycuik (Ksenia), Eugene Hrycuik (Brenda), sister Elsie Koch (Gordon); sisters-in-law Gwen Hrycuik, Loretta Wooff, Irene Whyte (Bill), Lenore Mintkawetz (Lynn), Susan Dengler; aunts Nellie Hrycuik, Bernice Hrycuik, Elsie Chohaniuk. Many special nieces, nephews and cousins. John was predeceased by his parents Dymetro and Polly Hrycuik; brother Walter Hrycuik; sister-in-law Janet Dengler; brothers-in-law, Val Wooff, Ron Dengler, Ray Dengler; his parents-in-law John and Jean Dengler; and nephew Kerry Dengler. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2017 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 260-25th Street East Prince Albert, SK with celebrant Father Michael Fahlman. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, the family requests memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Lung Association of Saskatchewan. The family would like to thank Dr. Martha VanHeerden and Rita for their excellent care of John for the past 3 years.
