Sophie Keenatch 1936 - 2017 On Tuesday, May 23, 2017, Sophie Keenatch was called home to be with the Lord at the age of 81 years. The Wake Services for Sophie commenced at 7:30 p.m. from the Mistahi Sipiy Elementary School Gym on Whitefish First Nation in Big River on Tuesday, May 23, 2017. The Funeral Service for Sophie was held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2017 also in the school gym. Sophie was laid to rest in the Whitefish Catholic Cemetery by the river. Sophie will be laid to rest in the Whitefish Catholic Cemetery. Sophie is lovingly survived by, her husband Thomas Rainey; her daughters, Cecilia (Melvin) Smallboy; Agnes Keenatch; Linda (Victor) Sanderson; her special grandson / baby Jack (Karen) Rayne; her special grandaughter Sophie (Owen) Sanderson; her sisters Catherine Keenatch; Matilda Keenatch; Madeline Lachance; as well as numerous great great grandchildren, great grandchildren, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Sophie is predeceased by, her parents Gilbert & Agnes Keenatch; her sisters, Therese Rabbitskin, Helen Netmaker, Cecil Keenatch; her brothers, Dick Keenatch, Alec Keenatch; her children, Melvin (Puppet) Keenatch; Therese Keenatch; Calvin (Dixsees) Keenatch, Ivan Keenatch, Marlene Rabbitskin; and George Keenatch. The active pallbearers were, Cameron, Clayton Keenatch, Ranger Bonaise, Burton Morin, Owen Sanderson, and Darryl Delorme. The eulogist was Lorette Dreaver.
