Obituary of Ellen Malvina Lepage
On January 26, 2008, Ellen Lepage of the Evergreen Health Centre passed away peacefully at the age of 80 years. She was born in Lampman, SK on January 15, 1928 at home to Ulric and Gertrude Cote. The family moved to the area east of Leoville in 1932 and Ellen attended school in Timberland until grade nine. She helped work outside with her "Pop" and then later worked at various jobs, including the Leoville Union Hospital. Ellen met Maurice Lepage at the age of seventeen and they were married on July 29, 1947. From this union, six children were born. In 1966, Ellen and Maurice purchased the Traveler's Hotel in Leoville with Auntie Doris and Uncle Bob. In 1981 they sold the hotel and retired. Ellen enjoyed staying at home baking and cooking meals. In 1990, she lost the love of her life, Maurice. Ellen started showing signs of Alzheimer's disease in the mid 1990's, but continued to live at home with the help of her family, friends and Home Care. In January 2001, she came to her new home in Leoville at the Evergreen Health Centre. There she was treated with much love and dignity. Ellen is lovingly remembered by her children Darlene (Norman) Poulin of Spiritwood, SK & their family Marc & his son Jackson; Denny (Shelley) & their children Taylor & Serianna; Colette (Todd) & their children Gabrielle, Matthew & William; Joann (Marcel) Poulin of Leoville, SK & their family Tyler (Connie) & their son Brayden; Megan (Beau) & their daughter Mallie; Leslie (Lana) Lepage of Chitek Lake, SK & their family Lisa (Justin) & their children Esme, Joshua, & Isabella; Treena (Curtis), Regan; Karen (Marcel) Chalifour of Leoville, SK and their family Danyelle (Tyler) & their daughter Kennedi; Melanie (Jason), Brodey; Sharon (Lionel) Riel of Leoville, SK & their family Holly Ann (Derek) & Kennedy; Kelsey (Chris), Lindsey; Marc (Nola) Lepage of Chitek Lake, SK & their family Greg (Jenn) & their son Syxton; Jade (Wendy), Charley (Jamie); her sisters Alice Rivard, Eileen Veroba & Joyce (Ed) Hrynkiw; her brothers Vernon (Louise) Cote & Ronald McGilles; her sisters in law Therese Polard & Marie Lepage as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband Maurice in 1990; her sisters Lillian (Robert) Debray, Florence (Edward) Lemieux, Esther (Gerry) Rivet, Margaret (Emile) Blanchard, Gladys (Walter) Kondra & Doris (Robert) Lepage; her brothers in-law Zenon, Phillipe, Eddie, Paul-Emile, Phil Rivard, Don Veroba & Pierre Polard; her sisters in-law Bertha Cyr, Marie Helen Chalifour, Sr. Leonie Lepage and a grandson Landon Chalifour. The prayer service was held on Wednesday, January 30th, 2008 at 7:30 pm and Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, January 31st, 2008 at 11:00 am, both from St. Therese Roman Catholic Church in Leoville. The celebrant was Rev. Fr. Paul De Guzman. Brodey Chalifour was the cross bearer and the music director was Phil Marion. Colette Berg & Holly Ann Riel read the eulogy and the pall was placed on the casket by Kelsey Riel, Melanie Chailfour, Charley Lepage & Megan Poulin. The pall bearers were her grandsons Marc Poulin, Denny Poulin, Tyler Poulin, Greg Lepage, Jade Lepage and Lindsey Riel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Evergreen Health Centre or the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan. Ellen was laid to rest in the Leoville Cemetery.
