Ruth Alma Emisch passed away quietly at Mont St. Joseph Home in Prince Albert, SK surrounded by her family.
She was predeceased by her husband Jake, her daughter Penny (Ham), her two brothers Alan and Vernon, her sister Donna Gesell, and her parents Albert and Catherine Watson.
She is survived by her son-in-law Norman Ham, daughter Faylene (Hal) Stupnikoff, sons Bert (Nancy) Emisch and Jack (Brenda) Emisch; grandchildren, Sean (Kim) Ham, Frank (Corinne) Ham, special granddaughter Carla Ham, David (Peggy) Penner, Penny (Murray) Watchel, Scott (Bridget) Witkowski, Jessica Emisch, Kelsie Emisch; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Ruth was a dedicated teacher in numerous rural schools in Manitoba. She was a published author of the book Over the Rainbow, which outlines her 50 year career in Manitoba Education. It describes how she moved from one room country schools to Special Education Consultant for the Turtle River School Division to teaching Special Education Courses at Brandon University. She demonstrated her passion for Education by continuing her own education and received both her B.Ed. and Masters. Ruth made a difference in the lives of many children during her 50 year career.
Ruth was also very involved in both 4-H and the United Church. She loved to dance and even when she was wheel chair bound she appreciated the music provided by the bands that would come in to Mont St. Josephs. Another passion was gardening and she would spend hours enjoying the flowers at the home.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held at the Knox United Church in Plumas, Manitoba on July 14th at 2 pm officiated by Ms Wendy Denbow. A luncheon will follow the service at the Plumas Community Center. The celebration of life will conclude with the interment at St. Helens Cemetery.
