Obituary of Annie Pylypchuk

PYLYPCHUK- Mrs. Annie Pylypchuk, age 90, late of Shellbrook, passed away in Parkland Terrace Nursing Home on Tuesday, March 25, 2008. Annie was born in Marlin, Saskatchewan on December 22, 1917, and lived for 90 glorious years, covering two centuries. She met her husband, William Pylypchuk in 1934 and on November 24, 1940 they were married. They lived in Norquay after their marriage, then began farming in Mundare, Alberta. However, the attraction remained to Saskatchewan and they eventually settled in the Junor district. Roots took hold there until her husband's death in 1969. Later that year she moved to Cookson. Annie began the next phase of her life, living on her own with the onset of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. This era of Annie's life was and is the most special to the family. All the grandchildren soon learned about the love and care that she would provide. She was the kindest, most caring and positive person in the world, and never had a bad thing to say. She was pure of heart. The grandchildren learned about the food that Baba's hands could prepare, like perogies, cinnamon buns, pampushky, cabbage rolls, cream chicken, and soups. Annie was a patient and good teacher to her grand-daughters and grand-sons as well, as she spent many visits and special times teaching everyone how to make perogies. Annie always greeted you with a hug and a smile. She seemed to have that incredible ability of making you comfortable and welcome as you sat down to play cards, visit, or chit-chat. She was able to touch people through her patience and openness. She would often find a positive in experiencing a difficult time. One of her favourite sayings was that "things couldn't be better". Annie also had a love for knitting. She would do this for hours and it became her main pastime as she knitted mitts and socks for everyone. In measuring her success in life, we can truly say that Annie lived through 90 wonderful years, displaying a special love of family and friends, believed in the faith in God, always shared her smile and laughs, took time to learn from and teach us, and of course left a legacy to family and friends. Annie is lovingly remembered by, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Helen (Arnold) Larsen of Shellbrook and their children Joan Larsen (Bruno Erelis) of Fort McMurray, Grant Larsen (Karrie Yont) of Comox BC, Allan (Karen) Larsen of Cookson and children Austin & Amy, Kevin (Sandra) Larsen of Cookson and daughter Sophie; John (Linda) Pylypchuk of Regina and their children Angela (Roy) Buckmaster of Saskatoon and children Leslie & Macayla, Melvin Pylypchuk of Regina; Walter (Grace) Pylypchuk of Regina and their children Charlene(Jack) Hilkewich of Regina and their twin daughters Lauren & Quinn, Warren Pylypchuk (Jennifer Dean) of Regina; Victor Pylypchuk of Shellbrook; Michael (Lucille ) Pylypchuk of Regina and their children Dean Pylypchuk of Calgary, Leanne Pylypchuk of Saskatoon, Andrew Pylypchuk of Shellbrook; her sisters, Sophie Haydukewich of Prince Albert, Kay Rivard of Callander ON; her brother, Andrew Swityk of Leoville SK; her brother-in-law Myron Chomicki of North Battleford; her sister-in-law Mary Swityk of Speers; numerous other relatives. She was predeceased by her husband, William Pylypchuk in 1969; her parents, John and Pearl Swityk; her sisters, Mary and Olga; her brothers, Nick, Metro, Mike, Bill and Peter; her brothers-in-law Walter Kuchta, Walter Haydukewich and Albert Rivard; a sister-in-law Sonya Swityk; an infant brother John; an infant sister Lena. The funeral service was held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Shellbrook on Friday, March 28 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Doug Schmirler as officiant. There were memories shared by Michael Pylypchuk, the pianist was Nicole Philp. Memorial donations may be made to the Shellbrook and Districts Health Services Project.
