Obituary of Allan Fitch
It is with great sadness that the family of Allan Delbert Fitch (AKA Bookie) announces his sudden passing September 17th, 2018.
Allan was born June 20, 1957 in Prince Albert Saskatchewan, the youngest child of Delbert and Eileen Fitch.
Allan attended elementary school in Foxdale, and then graduated from Shellbrook High School in 1975. Bookie's zest for life, and his fun-loving attitude allowed him to make friends easily. These lifelong friendships continued throughout all the chapters of his life, and he welcomed more great friendships along the way with open arms.
Growing up in Foxdale, grain farming and helping raise and care for the livestock is where he discovered his love and passion for farming. Till the day of his passing, Allan took pride in purchasing his father's previously owned land and growing his own crops. Besides farming, Allan's other work interests included working for numerous local businesses and exercising his Class 1A license as a very reputable truck driver.
Bookie was also very involved with the community, as he was a volunteer firefighter, the youngest Exalted Ruler of the Shellbrook Elks Community Club, an active member of the Shellbrook Golf Course, and the guy you would call whenever you needed a helping hand.
Sports drove Allan's passion for community involvement, having played on many sports teams with many accomplishments, including a midget hockey Provincial Championship, and a Provincial C Championship with the Shellbrook Elks in the 89-90 season. Later in life, Al enjoyed rec hockey, curling, golf, fishing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and snowmobiling as often as possible.
Among his many accomplishments, becoming a father and then grandfather was by far the proudest moments for Allan. Spending time with his grandchildren, was to see Bookie in his element and reliving his childhood. This past summer, Allan was so excited to be able to share one of his favorite places, Smoothstone Lake Lodge, with his wife Sally, all his children and all his grandchildren at the same time. A wonderful memory that will be cherished forever.
In his most recent years, Allan was fortunate to marry his final soul mate Sally, on the island of Kauai. This was the first of many travels and adventures they would experience together. Over the years family and friends were a main priority for Allan and Sally, thus many happy memories were made at many social gatherings.
Allan is lovingly remembered by his mother Eileen Fitch of Sylvan Lake, AB; his wife Sally Fitch of Shellbrook, SK; His children Brock (Crystal) Fitch of Saskatoon SK, and Kelsey (Jory) Segberg of Shellbrook SK, (and their mother Rhonda Lennard); his step children, Cole (Allyssa) Gunderson of Saskatoon, SK, Kendall (Jordan) Person of Canwood, SK; his step sons Chase (Jenna) Pokol of Osler, SK, and Josh (Jamie) Pokol of Saskatoon, SK; his grandchildren Rory and Connor Fitch; Maddox Segberg; Elsie Gunderson; Sawyer Person; Sienna, Sayde and Sunday Pokol; his sister Penny Fitch of Sylvan Lake AB; his nephew David (Amanda Fitch); his niece Summer Fitch; his mother in-law Marie Jacobson (Bob From); his siblings in-law Cathy (Gary) Gale and Joe (Paula) Jacobson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.
He was predeceased by his father Delbert Fitch; his wife Cheryl Fitch (mother of Chase and Josh Pokol); his brother David Fitch; his special great uncle Cecil Fitch; his special uncle Keith Fitch; his maternal grandparents Michael and Marj Murtagh; his paternal grandparents Crawford and Ida Fitch; his brother in-law Gord Davis.
