Obituary of Coral Dawn Friesen
The family of Coral Friesen are deeply saddened to announce Coral's sudden passing on May 31, 2008 at Sandy Lake-Churchhill River Camp. Coral was born June 24, 1981 in Spiritwood, SK. She lived on the Friesen farm near Belbutte with her parents Byrle and Darrell until she was eight years old. Coral attended school at Medstead, SK. Along with her mom and her brother Ray, they moved to Birch Lake, SK. At both Belbutte and Birch Lake, she enjoyed the farm life. It was here that Coral had the opportunity as a child to spend valuable time with her grand parents Burt and Marj Friesen and Klaas and Jane Knot. In the summer of 1993, the family, along with Dennis Johnson, moved to Big River, SK. They operated an outfitting business at Cowan Lake. Coral loved the lake and the outdoors. She attended school in Big River from grade seven until she graduated in 1999. Coral was a good student and athlete. She had many friends in Big River and all her school mates and teachers loved Coral. On April 17, 1998 her daughter Madison was born. Madison was everything to Coral and she loved Madison very much and was very proud of her. Coral was especially proud of Madison's school work and sports. Coral loved to follow Madison around to her events. Madison loved her Mom and loved to do things with her. She is so much like her Mom in every way. After high school, Coral worked various jobs. She worked at cleaning rooms and house cleaning for a short while. She then took a job doing janitor work at Big River Lumber for three years. Following that she found employment at the Clearwater Greenhouses. She really enjoyed this job. It was seasonal work, so she worked a second job at Churchhill River Camp on Sandy Lake, SK as a cook. She loved this job and she was proud of it. Coral was in her element. She was doing the same work Grandma Jane did and was working with her Grandpa and her uncles as well as her partner Mike Miller. Coral had also landed a new job at the Big River Nursing Home following the season at Sandy Lake. Coral loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, and friends. She loved horses as well as other animals. Coral loved life and was always friendly and didn't talk bad about people. She would rather be their friend. Coral's love of her life was Mike. They shared the same interests and really treasured their time together. Coral also knew that Madison was special to Mike too. Coral was a beautiful person inside and out. She made heads turn when she walked into a room. Coral was nice to everyone and always took the time to say "hi". Everyone was proud that they had a chance to know her. Coral always looked out for the underdog. It didn't matter who you were or what you had, you were given the chance to be Coral's friend. Coral was proud of who she was and where she came from. Coral was a great mother, daughter, sister, friend, but most of all she was a great person. We will all miss her a lot and I don't know how we will go on with out her. Her spirit and kindness will live on forever. Coral, we miss you and love you forever. Coral is lovingly remembered by her daughter Madison Krienke and her father Randy Krienke of Big River, SK; her partner Mike Miller of Big River, SK; her parents Byrle Friesen (Dennis Johnson) of Big River, SK; her brother Ray Friesen (Michelle Dunn) of Big River, SK; her grandfathers Klaas Knot of Birch Lake, SK and Burt Friesen of Spiritwood, SK; her great grandmother Amanda Friesen of Rosthern, SK; her uncles and aunts Norman Knot and his daughter Karley of Birch Lake, SK; Roxanne Friesen and her son Mark McLeod; Byron (Verna) Friesen of Spiritwood, SK and their children Chris and Sheldon; her special friends Mark Egeland of Birch Lake, SK, Jen Watson of Big River, SK, Sandy Chaykowski of Whitecourt, AB, Krista Swanson (nee Teer) of Cold Lake, AB, Jaimie Friesen (nee Hyllestad) of Big River, SK, Janene Scriven of Big River, SK, Nadine Gilbert of Big River, SK and Raine Janzen of Medstead, SK as well as all relatives and friends who have shared in Coral's life. She was predeceased by her father Darrell Friesen, her grandmothers Jane Knot and Marjorie Friesen and Madison's grandfather Eddie Krienke. A Gathering of Family and Friends was held on Thursday, June 5th, 2008 at 2 p.m. from Byrle and Dennis' yard near Big River. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Madison Krienke Education Fund, Debden Credit Union-Big River Branch. Coral's cremated remains will be laid to rest at a later date.
