Obituary of Wade Higgins

It is with profound sadness that the family of Wade Higgins announces his sudden passing on July 7, 2008 at the age of 36 years. Wade was a young man that so many people were privileged to know. He was a very strong and determined man, although it was a very short 36 years, he truly made a difference in the lives of everyone he met. Wade was a man you were proud to call your friend. Wade was born to Rod and Linda Higgins in Lillooet, BC on October 26, 1971. He was a little brother to Dwayne and a big brother to Laura-Lee. At 9 years of age, Wade and his family moved to Meadow Lake and then in 1982 they moved again and Spiritwood became home. Spiritwood really was his true home, filled with family, friends and neighbors who he loved and respected. On September 2, 1995, Wade married his high school sweetheart, Michelle Tauriac. This relationship was blessed with two special children, Braden and Madison, thus fulfilling Wade's dream of being a loving and caring father. He was their rock. Wade was the man who while trying to move a mountain, would notice that you were struggling with a molehill. He would always stop working on "HIS" mountain to come and help you with your molehill. Wade would never ask you for help to move his mountain. Wade's greatest passions, next to his family, were hunting, archery, water skiing and knee boarding, spending many hours in the boat with his children, nieces and nephews. His latest passion was learning to ride his horse "Dunny" and roping. He treasured his many hours spent with the Saam family and his roping buddies. Wade was mischievous, a teaser and a prankster, but always done with love and caring. He was a man that would challenge anything, would accomplish everything and would give 110% to everything he did. He was a wealth of knowledge and was able to share it with the people around him. Wade loved his children and taught them to become high achievers. He was very successful at that. Wade did everything in his power to be the best Dad he could be. He was a role model to his children. Wade was a caring man, whether it was rescuing a baby bear, caring for kittens or making time for Gramma Conn and special friends. He didn't like crowds, but he loved people. Wade always worried about others and he treated everyone with honesty and fairness. He listened a lot and talked little. Wade was a loyal friend and will be missed forever. Wade is lovingly remembered by his loving wife Michelle Higgins of Spiritwood, SK, his son Braden Higgins of Spiritwood, SK, his daughter Madison Higgins of Spiritwood, SK, his parents Rod and Linda Higgins of Spiritwood, SK, his brother Dwayne (Maria) Higgins of Leoville, SK and their children Danielle, Brittany, Jared and Carter, his sister Laura-Lee (Eric) Cross of Spiritwood, SK and their children Ryan and Tyler, his grandmother Vail. Michelle's grandmother Marjorie Conn of Spiritwood, SK, his brother in-law Todd Field (Lorrie) of Vermillion, AB and their children Brett, Travis and Cody, his sister in-law Kim Field of Saskatoon, SK and her daughter Stephanie Willick, his father in-law Joe Tauriac (Della) of Melville, SK and her children Darryl (Liz) and their daughter Kassidy, Carl and Randy as well as numerous other relatives and countless friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents Effie and Gordon Higgins, his grandmother Ellen Whittaker, his grandfather Vail, Michelle's grandmother and grandfather Tauriac, his mother in-law Evelyn Tauriac and Michelle's grandfather John Conn. The memorial service was held on Friday, July 11th, 2008 at 2 p.m. from the Spiritwood Civic Centre with Rev. Leigh Sinclair as the officiant. The eulogy was read by Ron and Geraldine Lavoie and the honorary pall bearers were all relatives and friends who shared in Wade's life. Wade's urn was carried by his children Braden and Madison Higgins. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Spiritwood Spirited Arrows Archery Club c/o Cari Cross or donor's choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ed Beaulac of Beau "Lac" Funeral Home.
