Obituary of Ferne Meyers

MEYERS- Mrs. Fernande 'Ferne' Meyers, age 59, late of Debden, passed away in the Shellbrook hospital on Monday, July 28, 2008. Ferne was born December 3, 1948 in Canwood, then the family moved to Debden. She married Vern Meyers in 1968 and moved to Prince Albert, where they had two daughters, Elaine and Sheila. In 1973 the family purchased a farm in Big River, where they lived until 1993. Ferne was very outgoing, fun loving and compassionate. She was protective of those she loved and cared for, and enjoyed hearing about the lives and experiences of her friends. Ferne was a great mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunty, and friend who loved her family and enjoyed getting together with them. She will be greatly missed and will live forever in our hearts. Ferne leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Elaine (Kent) Buckingham of Cold Lake AB, Sheila (Dal) Isbister of Debden; her grandchildren, Brad (Chelsey) Buckingham of Cold Lake, Justin Buckingham of Cold Lake, Alyssa Buckingham of Cold Lake, Braeden Isbister of Debden, Taylor Isbister of Debden; her sisters, Leona Fletcher of Prince Albert, Edna Skalicky of Prince Albert, Loraine (Marcel) Dore of Debden; a brother-in-law Ian Adams of Stoney Plain, AB. She was predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Angeline (nee: Fournier) Lajeunesse; two brothers, Laurent and Doria Lajeunesse; a sister, Madge Adams; two brothers-in-law Ken Skalicky and Dale Fletcher. The Vigil of Prayer was held on Thursday, July 31 at 7:30 pm at St. Jean Baptiste Roman Catholic Church in Debden, led by Robert and Sandra Fontaine. The Funeral Mass was held on Friday, August 1 at 11:00 am with Rev. Fr. Bernabe Millan Sajonas as celebrant. The eulogy was read by Shelley Miller, and the readers were Bertha Couture and Amelie Patrick. The urn bearer was Marshall Fletcher and the cross bearer was Curtis Skalicky. Memorial donations may be made to the Debden Personal Care Home Project. Interment was in the Debden Cemetery.
