Obituary of Hiram Brooks

Hiram Caleb Brooks Nov 27th, 1933 – Dec 18th, 2019 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Hiram Brooks on Dec 18th,2019 at the age of 86. Hiram was born to Mae Brooks (Shaw & nee Burkosky). His father Hiram Brooks (2nd) was killed in a plane crash a few months prior to his birth. Hiram was raised in Prince Albert by his mother and grandparents. In 1955 he joined the air force and was stationed in several places in Canada and Europe. He retired from the air force in 1975 and returned to Prince Albert. Hiram worked several other places until his official retirement some years later. Hiram married Bernice Brooks (nee Morash) Nov 9th, 1963 and they celebrated 49 years of marriage before Bernice’s passing in 2012. During this time they raised their family of Donna and Paul. Hiram was extremely proud of both his children and told them often how much he loved and appreciated them. He had a very special place in his heart for his grandchildren and for the Marcotte family whom he considered to be family. Dad was a very unique and intelligent man. He had a passion to learn how things worked and was able to figure out a logical and practical way to do most anything. Dad managed to figure out a way to “Brooksify” just about anything and had a remote control for most items long before remote controls were a common thing. Dad was also a dedicated member of Alcoholics Anonymous and attended meetings right up to his passing. Thanks to his AA buddies that would pick him up for meetings as he was very proud to have given up driving earlier this year on his own terms. Dad had 43 years of sobriety at the time of his passing. Hiram is survived by his daughter Donna Brooks (Linda Bjork) and his son Paul Brooks. His grandchildren Leah Sampson, Jerod, Aiden and Paige Brooks. Daughter in law Barb Brooks. Very special family friends Allison Marcotte and the Marcotte children Mandi Cloak, Wendy McNaughton, Rebecca Marcotte, Lise Soles, Joan Marcotte-Davies. Special family friend Shirley Attree and numerous relative and friends. Hiram was predeceased by his beloved wife Bernice Brooks, his parents Hiram Brooks (2nd) and Mae Shaw. His son in law Grant Smith. His best friends Larry Marcotte and Graeme Attree. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring of 2020.
