Obituary of Kenneth Alvin Priestley

Kenneth Alvin Priestley May 26, 1934 - June 19, 2020 Kenneth Alvin Priestley was born at the family homestead in Bapaume, SK, on May 26, 1943, the second child born to Harold and Lily Priestley. Ken met and married Doreen in June of 1961. They had a very strong bond with deep love and respect for each other. Shortly after their marriage, they welcomed their first child Edwina in January 1962, then came Alvin in 1963 and completing the family was Darren in 1966. Ken was always a hard worker having a handful of jobs throughout his life. As a kid he worked for Jim Hare and Ray Garrison on the farms, eventually moving to the railroad industry where he worked maintenance. As he got older, he bought the bulk station and gas pumps from Granddad Hawkins. After selling the station, Ken moved back to Estevan, SK to work on the oil field, before moving back to the Spiritwood area. After moving back Ken worked doing road construction. Ken worked for Ed Dixon in the welding shop leading up to his purchase of the shop. Once he sold the shop he worked at the arena and after many years of working for the RM where he retired, he looked forward to helping Dave Lang every summer combining and swathing on Dave’s farm. On Ken’s Saturdays off from working for the RM, he would always meet the men for coffee before returning home to watch wrestling which always proceeded with him wrestling with Alvin and Darren. After this was done the guitar would also come out and the family would sit around and sing. Ken loved fishing and camping with his family. He was known for being very meticulous in everything that he did from grading the roads to cutting his grass and had an eye for detail. This led with Ken often bringing his own rake to the campgrounds and would often leave the site looking better than when they got there. Graveside Services were held Friday, August 7, 2020 at 1:00 pm in the Bapaume Cemetery, with Delores Beaulac officiating. Honorary Pallbearers were his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
