Obituary of Garry Haydukewich

Garry Joseph Haydukewich Garry passed away July 12, 2020 at the age of 73. Garry was born March 15, 1947 in Moose Jaw and settled in Candle Lake in 1948 with his parents, Joseph and Matilda “Tillie” and sister, Sandra Haydukewich. Garry’s 73 years were mostly spent at Candle Lake with siblings, Sandra, Brian, Ronald, Douglas and Terry. Garry learned responsibility at a young age such as how to split wood, haul water, take care of burning stove pipes or whatever his Mom needed help with while his Dad was away for months at a time trapping. Summer-time was spent helping rent boats and motors on Candle Lake and then later helped family clear bush for the development of Rainbow Lodge at Piprell Lake. His hunting, fishing, trapping, commercial fishing and prospecting skills excelled at an early age. His natural knowledge of the bush accelerated in pulp cutting for SK Forest Products/Woodlands Division and he was known to be the one to call on if a tree needed cut in the Subdivision. Garry quickly learned different trades required to supervise various jobs for WSI. Many family members and co-workers can share great stories of work experiences. His knowledge and passion for nature was shared with his sons through hunting, fishing, trapping and spending time at their getaway place at Piprell Lake. As well, they spent many years growing wild rice and moose hunting at his trapper’s cabin at Lorenz Lake. Garry will be remembered for his independent nature, being a man of his word, his sincerity, his voice - expressing his opinion or singing a song, his wise ways, his love and well-being for his family, pride in his grandchildren and newest addition, his great-granddaughter Tillie. The Haydukewich Subdivision will never be the same without you Garry. He will be greatly missed and leaves cherishing the memories, his sons, Robin (Colleen) and Tommy (Megan); his granddaughters, Taylor (Kode) and Darci (Wyatt); his grandson, Jacob Haydukewich; his great-granddaughter, Matilda “Tillie”; his sister, Sandra Aiken; his brothers, Doug (Lea) and Terry (Wanda); his sisters-in-law, Betty and Bev Haydukewich; his aunts, Gladys Stewart, Audrey Paul and Beatrice Shaner, as well as many niecec, nephews and friends. Garry was predeceased by his father, Joe; his mother, Tillie, infant sister, Ellen, brothers Ronald and Brian and his brother–in-law Don Aiken. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Cantin, Home Care Nurses and the Staff at Beau “Lac” Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
