Obituary of James "Jim" Louis Palendat
James (Jim) Louis Palendat
August 13, 1956 – July 30, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jim Palendat on Thursday, July 30 at the age of 63. Jim was a loving and devoted husband to wife Grace; a proud and supportive father to his children Kevin (Erin Courtice) and Janet Palendat; a loving brother to Dave Palendat (Judith Harden); and a beloved son to his Mother, Muriel Palendat. He is also survived by his stepdaughter Nadine (Aaron) Reid; grandchildren Ellie and Ethan Reid; brother Wilbur Palendat; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and an unending number of friends. He was predeceased by his father Octave Palendat and his uncles Ivan (Joan) and Wes (Ann) Palendat.
Jim was born in New Westminster, B.C. on August 13th, 1956. Moving from New Westminster to Glen Ewen, Saskatchewan as a child, Jim spent his childhood enjoying life in the country where he developed a long and abiding love for nature and the outdoors. Jim attended Glen Ewen Public School and graduated from Balfour Technical School in Regina, Saskatchewan. Jim maintained a love for working with his hands and was always passionate about things mechanical. He translated this passion for machines into a long and meaningful career, first as an automotive mechanic and later as an entrepreneur in construction and landscaping. Jim was never happier than when surrounded by nature and the people he loved. His later days were spent tending to his camping business, touring North America with his beloved wife (on his beloved Harley Davidson motorcycle), fishing and hunting with his friends and family, and spending quality time with his children and grandchildren. Jim was always a very social person who enjoyed building strong friendships with those around him. He will be remembered for his quick-witted sense of humor, the straight forward and honest way he had with people, his seemingly endless aptitude for almost anything, and the general kindness and compassion he showed to those in need. Jim was incredibly well-loved and will be fondly remembered by those whose lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Private family celebration of life is to be held at a later date.
