Obituary of Charles Maurice Mourot
Charles “Charlie” Maurice Mourot was born on February 13, 1931 on the Mourot homestead in White Star to parents Francois Alphonse Mourot and Celina Mourot (nee Caron) and passed away suddenly on November 7, 2020, at the age of 89. He was part of a large family with seven brothers and two sisters: Henri, Alec, Frank, Henriette, Louie, Marcel, Xavier “Pete”, Margrette and Henri.
Charlie started working for the CN when he was just 14 years old and remained there until his retirement in 1985.
Charlie was never the one to sit quiet. He could always be found telling plenty of stories about working for the CN or on the farm. Charlie was married to his wife of 63 years, Inez Mourot (Brandoline), on May 18, 1957. They loved to garden together which showed in the produce they brought to the farmers market for two decades. It was his true passion being able to provide for his family and then sell to others.
He was a fishing enthusiast. His favorite summer pass time was fishing with grandchildren and friends. There was never an invite Charlie would turn down when given the opportunity to go fishing.
Curling was a favorite winter pass time for Charlie. He could be found at the Golf and Curling Club or more recently at least 2 days a week at the East End Curling rink. He was also a member of the Army and Navy and the Legion. He enjoyed dancing at the Spruce Home Activity Center on Saturday nights.
He always talked about traveling and spoke very fondly of his trips to Ontario to visit his siblings.
