Obituary of Lee King
KING - With profound sadness the family of Lee King announces his passing at his farm on Thursday April 16, 2009 at the age of 51 years. Lee was born on March 19, 1958 in Spiritwood, Saskatchewan to Wilfred and Agnes King of Meeting Lake. He joined a family of three sisters and two brothers. He was our baby brother. Lee could often be found in the dirt, in the garden making roads and playing with trucks and tractor's. He loved animals and was even known to rescue a stray or two. He was a happy carefree youngster enjoying many tractor rides, visit's from Saskatoon cousin's , ball games and riding bikes. In 1964, Lee started public school in Rabbit Lake, enduring a twelve mile bus ride, changing to the Spiritwood school in 1966 when the family moved to town. After completing grade eleven, he worked various jobs before taking carpentry at SIAST. In 1985, Lee married Gloria Martodam and they made their home in Spiritwood. To this union was born one son Justin, and three daughters Stephanie, Jamie and Brittany. He championed his children's many achievements and activities. He owned several guitar's and would have fun playing for his family. His priority was being a dad. Lee's life in Spiritwood was a busy one. Many a home's have some of his handiwork. He constructed houses and cabins as well as built cupboard's, stippled ceilings, sided houses, erected fences, layed flooring and lastly his Bedrock Sand and Gravel partnership. Lee's creative talents and abilities were called upon over and over in the community and he extended himself with a willing heart. Many took the brunt of his ready wit and sense of humour. From his collection of M.A.S.H movies to shows such as COPS, America's most wanted, and Sopranos Lee was entertained. Favorite stops were at his brother Forrest's for dark rum and smokes (which he was always quitting), and the coffee shop for the latest gossip. Lee leaves to cherish his memory: His children Justin King of Edmonton, AB, Stephanie King of Spiritwood, SK, Jamie King of Spiritwood, SK, Brittany King of Spiritwood, SK and the mother of his children Gloria King of North Battleford, SK. His brothers and sisters: Cherry Anne (Jack) Harris Saskatoon, SK, Robert (Anne) King of Spiritwood, SK, Linda (Dave) Hardy of Marshall, SK and Forrest (Marcia) King of Spiritwood, SK. His brother in-law Don (Damianne) Turgeon of Spiritwood, SK. As well as numerous, nieces, nephews, other relatives and countless friends. He was predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Agnes King, his sister Isabel Turgeon. The Funeral Service was held Monday, April 20th, 2009 at 1 p.m. from the Sacred Heart R. C. Church Spiritwood, SK with Pastor Leigh Sinclair officiating. Pallbearers were his son Justin King as well as his nephews Derek, Dane, Todd, Tyson and Daryl.
