Obituary of Philippe Jules Joseph Chalifour
Philippe Jules Joseph Chalifour (February 11th, 1957 - August 2nd, 2021)
On August 2 2021 the Chalifour’s lost a dear member of their family in a tragic accident.
Philippe was born on February 11th, 1957 to Andre and Cecile Chalifour. He was born in Edmonton, AB and raised in the Leoville area of Saskatchewan. Philippe started school in Leoville, SK in 1965. He spent one school year at St. Louis’s Boys College. In 1974, he started his career in the oil patch in Red Deer, AB, for Dore’s Company as a roughneck, and worked his way up to driller. He worked all over Alberta from Okotoks in the South, to 50 miles from the Arctic Circle. His first child, Jessilynne, was born in Red Deer in 1979. He started farming with his family in the 1980’s. He lived in Blackfalds, and farmed in Leoville in the Spring and Fall. He moved back home in 1981 and built his own home, and still continued to work in the oil patch in the off farming season. Philippe started 24 North Outfitters in 1990. He travelled to White Plains, NY in 1991 to display his work in an outfitting show. He sold 24 North Outfitters in 2006, and continued to work in the bush for his brothers. Off and on, he worked for Almar as a limbing operator.
Philippe was very skilled in many areas.
He was a creator able to make most anything.
He was a mover he could get things going and manage a crew.
He was a leader because he wouldn’t have it any other way.
He was a teacher he shared his skills and knowledge, this will be his legacy. Philippe will live on in the hearts of the people he has loved and taught.
Philippe will be remembered by his mother Cecile Chalifour, his children, Jessilynne Chalifour of Leoville, SK, Brianne Chalifour of Fairy Creek, BC, Justin (Mariah) Chalifour of Saskatoon, SK, his grandchildren, Marentin (Kay-Lynne) Fehr, Terrill Schultz, Jessamie Schultz, Xander Chalifour, Arlo Pepper, and Silas Pepper, his siblings Marcel (Karen) Chalifour, Claude (Lori) Chalifour, Alain (Lorena) Chalifour, Celine (Jim) Gaboury, and many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Philippe was predeceased by his father Andre Chalifour, and his grandparents- Jules and Helen Chalifour, and Napoleon and Marie Lavoie.
