Obituary of Therese Marie Holz

Mrs.Therese Marie Holz (nee Logodin), late of Prince Albert, SK, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2021, at the Victoria Hospital.

Terry was born on the family farm at Red Wing to Alex and Alice Logodin (nee Chester) on February 3rd, 1937. Mom attended Red Wing school and was expected to watch out for her younger sister Rose on their long walks to school. She married Alfred Holz and had four children with him prior to his passing away in 1965. As a single parent she cared deeply for her family and sacrificed so much to ensure we were all looked after and loved. Mom had many jobs through the years to provide for her family as best she could. She worked at Burns foods as well as the Coronet in the evenings for extra income. She then worked at the old Sherwin Williams paint store eventually accepting the position of store manager. Once the store closed, she moved on to work at the A&W store and was a store manager there as well. She fondly talked of how gratifying it was to work for the Fontaine family and the respect that they showed her. She also worked in the summers for Bakers Bungalows at Waskesiu where again she was appreciated and praised for her attention to detail and pleasant demeanor. Mom was a hard worker and rarely complained about the cards she was dealt, instead choosing to take any opportunity to provide for her family as best she could. After retiring Mom enjoyed coffee just about every morning with her family and friends at either Zellers, the Legion, the Army and Navy or A&W. Mom would often bring baking to be shared by all who were there for coffee or playing cribbage. Mom was proud to volunteer at many of the Royal Canadian Legion’s functions in honor of the family members that served our country. She loved being surrounded by her kids and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. There was always the best of cooking and baking at Grandma Terry's. Showing her true sense of independence Mom lived on her own at Sherman Towers up to the day we took her to the hospital only a short time ago.

Terry is survived by her four children, Conrad Holz, Anita (Dave Unruh), Donna (Dean Cournoyer) and Greg (Monica nee Vandevord) Holz; her grandchildren, Trista (Graham) Parsons, Justin (Charlise) Holz, Matthew (Jenai Berry) Unruh, Alexander (Brooke Listwin) Unruh, Nathan (Blake Geier) Unruh, Chelsea (Kal) Crosland, Brandi Cournoyer, Christine (Les) Beaulac and Joshua (Jessica Hourie) Holz; her great grandchildren, Kaleb Cournoyer, Brielle Michel, Jace and Aubrey Crosland, Maleah and Rowan Parsons, Ella and Jake Deobald-Holz, Grady and Lane Beaulac; her only surviving sibling, Rose (Glen Pryor) Chorney, and sisters-in-law, Rita Logodin (nee Gordon) and Shirley Vandevord.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Alice Logodin (nee Chester); her husband, Alfred Holz; her siblings, Juliette Logodin, Adele (Frank Lahaye), John (Bertha nee Wilson), Paul, Marcel, Peter; and brother-in-law, John Chorney.

A Private Family Service will be held.
