The family of Robert Bruce Barrowclough are sad to announce his passing on the morning of August 23, 2021 at the age of 86.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Ruth Barrowclough; his son, Bill Barrowclough; his daughter, Eileen Olsen (John Verge); his son Bob (Kathleen) Barrowclough; his daughter, Heather (Mike) Smith; his 8 grandchildren, Liam Barrowclough, Tyler Olsen, Brittney Olsen, Kristen (Cory) Bell, Brody Barrowclough, Rahcole (Jordan) Cochet, Danielle (Brodie) Wiser, and Cassandra Spence (Kyle Herbert); 9 great grandchildren, Phoebe, Hudson, Julia, Josette, Mackenzie, Benjamin, Aubrey, Aaron and Eric.
He is predeceased by their infant daughter, Margaret; his parents, William and Dora Barrowclough; his son-in-law, Glenn Olsen; his brother, Albert Barrowclough; his sisters, Ethel Faucett, Dorreen Southgate, and Joyce Metcalf.
Bruce moved to Prince Albert in 1952 for a job opportunity. A year later, in 1953 he met the love of his life, Ruth Gibb. After a few years of dating, they decided to wed in 1955 and start growing a family of their own. He provided for his family through his 46 year career in Automotive Services. As a result of his career choice, both his sons decided to pursue careers in Automotive Services.
In 1985 Bruce accepted the Lord into his life. He was a devoted member of the Crossroads Pentecostal Church where he made many friends and dedicated his time working and volunteering his services. Bruce had many hobbies that kept him busy over the years. He enjoyed spending time fishing, baking and gardening. He could often be found whistling in the kitchen. He had such a natural talent cooking. Whether it was baking one of his many famous treats, chocolate cakes and ginger snaps (which he loved sharing), canning, making jams and stews. If he wasn’t found in the kitchen, you could find him around the yard tending to his flowers and garden, which gave him so much pride and joy! Bruce enjoyed spending quality time with his best friend Charlie. During the summer, they spent countless hours on Silverhills golf course, where Bruce would say “if Charlie won, he didn’t know how to count or he cheated”. In the winter they could be found tossing rocks at the East End curling rink, sharing stories, and telling jokes. Bruce will be remembered for his honesty, loyalty and of course his great sense of humor!
He will be greatly missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bruce’s memory may be made to the SPCA - 1125 N Industrial Dr, Prince Albert, SK S6V 5T1.
