Obituary of James Stephenson

STEPHENSON: James passed away quietly on August 6, 2009 in the Special Care Nursing Home in Spiritwood, Saskatchewan at the age of 79 years. On October 14, 1929, in the camp Lake District Wesley and Margaret Stephenson welcomed their first born son into the world; James was born and raised on the Stephenson homestead north of Shell Lake. As a child James enjoyed helping his parents, whether it was feeding cattle or working the fields, James was there. James liked helping his fellow neighbors by just being there, if anyone had an issue with farming equipment they knew who they could get to fix it. James spent a couple of years working in B.C. at a lumber mill, which he loved, but soon came home. James never married or had children of his own, however he did meet and fall in love with Violet Tisdale and he spent many wonderful years with her until her sudden passing in 2004, James was not the same after that. James was moved into Rose Gill Lodge in Rabbit Lake, SK a year after her passing and remained there until about a month ago. James will be fondly missed by all, but the memories and the stories will live on. James leaves to cherish his memory, his loving brother Ralph (Perle) Stephenson of Shell Lake, SK, his nieces Brenda (Ivel) of Lloydminster, SK, Candy (Brad) of Waseca, SK, his nephews Wesley (Stacy) of Shell Lake, SK, Timmy (Tashia) of Lloydminster, SK and Edward (Delores) of Shell Lake, SK, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Wesley and Margaret Stephenson, his sister Dorothy and Ed Ouellette, his niece Doris, his nephew Stevie and the love of his life Violet Tisdale. The Funeral Service was held on Friday, August 14th, 2009 ~ 2 p.m. from the Shell Lake Lion's Hall, Shell Lake, SK with Rev. Dave Jensen as officiant, the Honorary Pallbearers were all relatives and friends who shared in James' life, the urn bearer was Timmy Stephenson. James was laid to rest in the Shell Lake Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society (Prince Albert Unit), 54 - 11th St. E. Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z9. Beau"Lac" Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
