Obituary of Betty Herbel

We are sad to express our grief for our mother Betty Herbel who passed away on November 4, 2009 from a courageous battle with cancer. Our Mom was predeceased by a son David in 1979, her father Earl Thomas in 1983, her mother June Thomas in 1994, and her husband Roy Herbel in 1999. Betty is survived by her four children: Lynn of North Battleford, her son Aaron and his son Damon; Randy and Cindy Herbel of Saskatoon and their children Megan (Josh) and Clayton; Rodney Herbel of Saskatoon and his two children Shelby and Alex; Stephanie Wintringham and Brent of Saskatoon and their two children Taylor and Mikela. Our Mom has two sisters: Ida Hardstaff (Al) of Calgary, Alberta and Shirley Parker of Delburne, Alberta. She is survived by many numerous nieces and nephews. Our Mom enjoyed the outdoors and it wasn't unusual to find her driving some kind of equipment on the field, picking berries for a good jar of jam, weeding that dreadful garden, and going prairie chicken hunting with her husband. She succeeded in combining her love of the outdoors with the motherly touch of maintaining a loving home of her five children and husband. She will be missed and loved by all of us forever. Our Mom left this world dignified and a courageous woman. The Funeral Service was held on Monday, November 9, 2009 at 2 p.m from the Spiritwood Civic Centre, Spiritwood, Sask with Reverend Leigh Sinclair as Officiant, the music was directed by Bill Martodam, the eulogy was given by Arlene Drieschner, the honorary pallbearers were All relatives and friends who shared in Betty's life, the pallbearers were Wyman Parker, Kelly Parker, Bob Picot, Barry Picot, Roger Picot and Gary Drieschner. Betty was laid to rest in the Spiritwood Cemetery. Memorial Donations in memory of Betty may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
