Obituary of Betty May Buchko (Mardell)

Betty passed away peacefully at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert on Saturday, November 21st, 2009. Betty was born and raised in Smeaton, SK on July 21, 1945. She was one of six children born to the late Stanley and Mary Mardell. Betty will be forever remembered by her husband, Zenon, son Gerald, daughters Janet and Laura, daughter-in-law Jennifer, son-in-laws Toby and Grant, granddaughters Emma and Ashley, grandsons Morgan, Zachary and Oliver, sister Beverly, brothers Edward (deceased), Clifford, Lloyd, Lawrence and numerous nephews and nieces along with other family and friends whom were blessed to have known her. Betty was a compassionate and caring mother, wife and affectionate and warm-hearted grandmother. Betty loved her family more than anything in this world and enjoyed many wonderful years spending time with them. Betty touched the lives of many people, without even knowing it, with her smile, generosity, and kind heart. She always made you feel welcome. She always cared for others before herself. Over the years, Betty enjoyed spending time trying to make her families life as best as she could. There was never a meal that wasn't prepared. She loved to bake, and supper always included one of her favourite desserts. She enjoyed sewing for her daughters, watching her son play hockey . The boys from the band would come over for jam sessions and mom would always welcome them into her home. Betty also enjoyed going to Waskesiu every summer with her family, spending time with her girlfriends in Tisdale and playing Bingo with her sister. Betty always had a dream of making a difference in someone's life, and decided to sponsor a young boy named Juliel Da Silva Santos and his family from the country of Brazil. In honour of Betty, the family is accepting donations to continue supporting Juliel and his family through World Vision. We love you mom and we know that you are in God's hands
