Obituary of Elsie Katherine Sowinski

Elsie Katherine Sowinski passed away with her family at her side on Sunday, October 16, 2022.

She was born December 14, 1946, in Prince Albert, SK to John and Frances Chytyk.  She started school in New Tarnapol and continued with High School in Yellow Creek.  She married Frank Sowinski in 1966.  They farmed together, with Elsie caring for the animals when Frank was away.   She also had various other jobs cooking, bartending, and serving ice cream.  She enjoyed crafts, painting , and visiting with family and friends.  Although Elsie had no passion for gardening, she still had the most beautiful plants.  Failing health eventually forced Elsie to move from the farm to Wakaw and later to Saskatoon.

Elsie will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Connie (Wayne Balon) and their children Ashley (Braden Murfitt) and their family Braelynn, Everlee and Rhett, and Brandon Balon (Mikaylie McMillan); her son, Craig (Susan Douglas); her brothers Theo (Lorna) Chytyk and Maurice (Kathy) Chytyk; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Sowinski; her parents, John and Frances Chytyk; her parents-in-law, Marcella and John Sowinski; and her brother-in-law, Joe Sowinski.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 28, 2022 at the Tway Rec Centre, Tway, SK.  A Private Family Interment will be held.

Donations in memory of Elsie may be made to the Sacred Heart of Jesus R.C. Cemetery, Tarnopol, SK.
