Obituary of Helen Anderson
ANDERSON- Mrs. Helen Anderson, age 79, late of Shellbrook, passed away on January 5, 2010. Helen was born on June 26, 1930, the eldest child of Frank and Annie Channon and grew up on a small farm northeast of Prince Albert. At a young age she learned about responsibility and hard work. When she was old enough she moved to Prince Albert and worked as a nurses aid. In 1952 she married the love of her life, Marvin Anderson. They owned a general store in Briarlea for a short time before moving to Marvin's family farm in Deere Ridge. They farmed in the summer and worked at a lumber camp in the winter. In 1964 they moved to Holbein with their four children, so Marvin could manage the local elevator. Helen was an avid gardener and berry picker and spent many hours watching her children curl and play ball. In later years she enjoyed watching her grandchildren curl, play ball, and hockey, and compete in 4-H competitions. She was also her great grandchildren's biggest fan. When her husband lost his leg to diabetes, she moved with him to Saskatoon so he could continue his treatments. When he passed away in 2000, she moved to Shellbrook where she made many friends, both young and old. Helen leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Bev (Ron) Ferster of Shellbrook, Randy (Joanne) Anderson of Saskatoon, Brenda (Percy) Waterhouse of Parkside, Tracey (Tim) Boxall of Regina; her grandchildren, Jay (Angela) Ferster of Shellbrook and their children Nolan, Austin, Taylor, Shea and Quinn Ferster of Saskatoon, Jacqui Anderson-Gorman (James Gorman) of Saskatoon, Jocelyn Anderson of Saskatoon, Jaime, Blake and Devin Waterhouse of Saskatoon, Travis and Dillon Boxall of Regina; a sister, Nancy Pocha of Cranbrook; a brother, Frank (Iris) Channon of Meath Park; a brother-in-law Jim (Annette) Szell of Lloydminster; a sister-in-law Vasti Anderson of Prince Albert; numerous nieces and nephews.
