Ernie Marcotte

Obituary of Ernie Phillip Marcotte

It is with profound sadness and much love that we mourn the sudden passing of Ernest (Ernie) Phillip Marcotte of Prince Albert on March 15th, 2023, in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 66 years. Ernie was a beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather and Coach.

Ernie is survived by his loving wife of 20 years Denise. His son, Todd (Emily) Marcotte and his daughter, Monique (Amanda Huppenen); grandchildren Maddox, Meyer and Maelee Marcotte; Hendrix Huppenen; his brothers, Denis (Sandra), Arthur (Katherine Kirychuk), Thomas (Maryann); favorite sister, Jeanne (Gerald) Prokulevich; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Ernie is predeceased by his Parents and Sister-in-law Sandra Marcotte.

Ernie was born on August 2nd , 1956, in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan to Antonio “Tony” and Marguerite “Margaret” (née Carrier) Marcotte. Ernie was the second son to Antonio and Marguerite. Ernie was raised in Prince Albert, completed high school, and graduated from St. Mary High School in 1973. Ernie graduated on a Friday and started work on the following Monday for the City of Prince Albert. This was a career that would span 44 years forging many friendships and impacting countless lives through his devout selflessness and desire to help everyone around him. In 1977 Ernie married Jacqueline Goertzen.  This union produced two of Ernie’s biggest pride and joys, his son Todd and daughter Monique.  Alas not all things last forever and they mutually parted ways.  In 2002, after being introduced by their dear friend Felix Casavant, Ernie found love and married Denise Zarazun. Together they lived a life of adventure through traveling, good times through celebrating with friends, new and old and many proud moments through his kids and grandkids until his last moment.

Ernie was all about family, friends that were like family and the community around him.  He was so proud to show off his kids and grandkids and took the opportunity to share pictures and videos of their antics and accomplishments whenever he could.  He always had a sparkle in his eye and a big grin on his face.  He loved sports, especially coaching his kids at the rink and on the diamonds. Ernie was a pillar in this community through his work with the City of Prince Albert and the countless hours he spent volunteering to make things a little better or a little easier for someone else.
